What are people seeing for the current turnaround time on the MD Collectors License? I mailed mine in early January and have not received anything back. Hoping to get it soon.

Not a license either. It's a designation, frankly just a letter that they have you on the list to search first... Haha j/k.

They have been processed faster than regulated firearms waiting time.

Once you have the collector designation...

I was looking at the law cited on the online form:
    http://www.mdsp.org/Organization/SupportServicesBureau/LicensingDivision/FirearmCollector.aspx

I've pasted the relevant parts of the statute below, for anyone interested in seeing it.

    A couple of questions:

    1. Has anyone ever had one of these denied based on the description "nature of collecting activities" section, or is "collecting guns" about all they're looking for there?

    2. Once you have one of these approved, do you have to do a separate application for the multiple purchases each time you buy, or does the collector designation remove the 30-day wait thing completely?

    Thanks.

    PubSafety §5–128.

It is not feasible for me to check if I have received an application. Please allow 2 months for processing and then IF you have not heard anything feel free to check on your status. It seems that I have not come across your application, yet. When did you send in your application? Did you send it certified because as of now I am current up to March 11th (received date) with processing. Thank you

Here's a link to the COMAR section:
    http://www.dsd.state.md.us/comar/getfile.aspx?file=29.03.01.04.htm

And excerpt related to requirements for State:

    I. If the individual is not prohibited by federal or State law from purchasing or possessing a regulated firearm, the notarized application shall be sufficient for a designation as a collector.

    J. If the individual is designated by the Secretary to be a collector, the Secretary shall notify the individual in writing within 14 days of receiving the individual's request.

    J is being violated.

Yes, you have to fill out apps for each firearm purchased.

There is an established thread for DC discussion.
