If he's such a really good guy...

Why not follow the NRA instruction, instead of the Anti's?

I reached out to him originally because I could smell the need for a training certificate coming and wanted to get ahead of the curve. He's an NRA cert instructor so wanted to get certified just in case...

He told me it wouldn't help because the State is determined, if needed, to make the requirement tougher than the NRA course.

We'll, to be fair to the guy, it is better to be the guy running to the bridge and steering the ship so it just barely misses the iceberg than to be the guy on the bow pointlessly trying to stop the ship.

FYI - Texas has like a 40hr CCW training requirement and the antigunowner industry STILL doesn't FEEL that is enough. If this guy can get MSP to go along with 8 hours, I can live with it vs. what could have been worse.

IIRC even the LEOSA permit lets you qualify with a "type" of weapon, not the "one" that you are going to carry.
I hope that I live long enough to see the Right recognized and BS like this ended.

When I criticized the "qualify what you carry" idea, and he explained the need to avoid rimfire qualifying followed by large caliber carry, he did suggest as a possible middle ground that qualifying with center fire might be an acceptable compromise to MSP/legislature.

All I can say about that is... Frosh is an idiot, whom I am sure lives in his own little world where the unicorns and the leprechauns run and play among the nice fluffy clouds of idiocy. He needs some heavy psychotropic drugs for his delusions. Maybe some Lithium or some Depakote.

You are correct. Semi-Auto, Revolver or both.

The qualification card we carry with our ID card simply has that, although the model, caliber and serial number of the gun we shoot with is recorded.

    MSP says, "no"

Well, if we assume that MSP is being truthful (I am willing to give anyone one shot at having integrity), that does at least make his stance more ethical. I am not agreeing with him, and never will on this count, but he is entitled to his opinions and I swore an oath to support that stance. If he does not in fact have a permit, at least he is eating the crap that he spews himself.

Except if he has two armed men escorting him everywhere.

IF we make it thru tomoorow with out this bill passing, how does the fact they may not get a budget and may go into overtime with the session play into this bill.
