    What Mopar said...

I have both... LCP and Glock 42.

The Glock is a much better choice.
    • Easier to rack the slide.
    • Better recoil management.
    • Less stress on the web of the hand.
    • Longer sight radius.

If she cannot operate the slide on a typical semi auto, Berretta makes a series of pistols with a tip up barrel, so you never have to rack the slide.

The 3032 Tomcat is a good choice in these pistols. You just need to get past the bias people have for .32.

I've got a Beretta Jetfire in .25 ACP. Neat little gun

Addressing the slide issue, my wife has MS and is incapable of pulling back a slide on a semi-auto. Then we learned the trick of using the hand to hold the slide while pushing the frame forward thus racking the slide. Works well for her.

No hate here. My wife likes her Ruger LCP and her Glock, but only carries her LCP. The Glock 17L is not a gun she would CC. I found her a 'flashbang bra holster' for the LCP, but they don't make one for the 17L.

For concealment... I guess the LCP would win hands down over the Glock 17L. But not the Glock 42.

Yes... the LCP hides better (by a very small margin) than the G 42... But the control factor is definitely in the G 42's camp. I'll gladly give up a half inch of concealment for the better ergos of the Glock 42.

Just read the below linked thread from someone with a LC9s Pro that said the trigger was unexpectedly light.

That was what I felt as well and is why I went back to the hammer fired. Not saying the unexpectedly light trigger is a bad thing, just wasn't what I learned on (been CCW'ing and shooting my hammer fired LC9 for 3+ years when I got the LC9s Pro).

Following that thought process, my hammer fired, when the trigger breaks, my hand is almost in a fist since it breaks so far back, giving me a better grip on the firearm (my hands are on the small side).

4 finger grip vs 3 finger grip if that makes sense.

Striker fired trigger broke about half way through with very little effort compared to what I was use to. I didn't feel like I had as good of a grip on the firearm as I do with the trigger break farther back.

Just food for thought if your wife has smaller than full size gun hands.

I hope you realize that PG county is gang territory. From end to end. Claimed by MS-13. Gang territory is a very real thing. Gangs do not operate outside their territory. Inside their territory, they feel very safe and bold. I have moved twice after discovering that I was in gang territory. Do yourself a favor and move away from gang territory. A carry permit isn't going to save you from gangs. If you face one, there's usually only one leader. Just shoot at the person who is talking or moving. The rest of them are just for show, and will scatter like the cockroaches they are.
a bit exaggerated there my friend. I've lived the majority of my life in PG County. It isn't quite the third world country you make it out to be, especially from end to end.

Your gangland tactical advice is pretty hilarious too.

My feeling too. Thanks for validating my sanity. Hahaha.

Everyone else, I'm mulling over what I've read. Again, I really appreciate it. Top notch community right here.

if the woman has trouble with the slide, have her start doing strength training and instruct her to push the frame instead of pull the slide.
