I purchased a NOS older Colt large pivot pin stripped upper receiver. My question is can you fit a new production Colt 16" barrel assembly (marked Colt cage code: 13629 MP 5.56 Nato 1/7 or C MP 5.56 Nato 1/7) to this receiver?
I read somewhere that these barrels have a different feed ramp that may need alteration to reliably feed with the older style receiver.
I've assembled a couple of mil-spec Ar type uppers with no problems-- but read somewhere about the potential issue with the combination of the older style upper and a new production Colt barrel.
Any info on this would be appreciated. I defer to those with a lot more experience than I have.
    Thanks for looking.

Yes. You can put a newer M4 Ramped Barrel on an older non ramped upper. Not a problem.

You can't put an older non M4 Ramped Barrel on a newer M4 Ramped Upper unless you recut the ramps on the Barrel.

I had parts I wanted to use in a Colt based overwatch type 18” rifle. I did the rifle barrel/M4 upper receiver combo to see what would happen. It did setback the bullets of certain brands of ammo, once to the point the powder came out of the case and literally put the rifle out of commission. At first opportunity I broke it down and spent a couple hours matching the barrel ramps to the M4 receiver and it has run 100% ever since.
