    Two questions:

    1) Aluminum or steel frame?

    2) What's the original finish? If it's not blued then the blue won't match exactly (and, bluing is not a great rust preventer anyway). If you want to go super-cheap even permanent marker can work just to cover.

Personally I'd gently flatten out the high spots and just shoot it. The spots on my handguns that rust are the ones that get handled a lot, particularly the rear slide and sight area.

Its a Sig and their site says it is an Alloy frame. Original finish. I'm not so worried about it matching just rusting. That spot is right where my finger goes so it's going to get a bit of sweat and whatnot. Hopefully the blue will hold but sounds like you don't think it will.

Well the Birchwood SuperBlue didn't turn out so well. Maybe because it really isn't the correct material to use. Grey sharpie looks pretty good though.

    :omg:

I got a nick in my gun. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Really? Come on guy, I have guns that show wear and tear, from accidents and mishaps. It's not the end of the world, it gives the gun character and a personality. I mean it's not like you bent the barrel in half and you need a same serialized barrel to match your slide and frame.

Likewise, cold blues don't work on aluminium.

Yes, not even in the least bit. Lesson learned. I'll use it on other stuff though. I always thought Sigs were all steel. I guess back in the day they were.

Least I know now it is purely cosmetic and further corrosion won't occur.
