C&R Renewal, ever had the CLEO write back?

Long time cruffler, first-time poster.

I've renewed in Baltimore County with Terrence Sherridan since 1998, and this was my first time with the guy who replaced him. Much to my surprise, I received a letter back after sending my C&R FFL application and a cover letter.

Is this the usual thing now? It struck me as kind of odd.

Don't worry about it, it is just a courtesy letter IMHO.

I just got my renewal papers the other day and I will be filling it out over the weekend and sent it back

Looks like a standard acknowledgment of receipt letter to me.
I would consider it far more legit than the nothing I got three times I renewed my C&R .

Someone here I recalled got back a letter saying "denied".

Follow-up

Received my C&R FFL in the mail yesterday, less than 30 days after I mailed it off.

Actually, I thought that was great, they fulfilled the obligation and got back the letter so there's no paperwork lying around to tempt any midnight visits, win-win.
