Meh. His former boss (who's a lot brighter than he is) looked at the EO route and found there just wasn't much that could be done that way. It'll be administrative nibbling around the edges, with the press conference being the most substantive part of the action.

It's all feel good bullsh*t that won't do anything but tie up more of the Federal Agencies time. Approvals for FFL's and Class III stuff will take longer so honest people suffer and criminals continue doing what they do.

Um, background checks are already there for FFLs.

    From the article:
"But the heart of the executive order would seek to expand background checks intended to prevent felons or domestic abusers from buying guns, largely by leaning on federally licensed gun dealers to comply or educating others who may not realize they are required to run background checks under existing law, the White House said."

So...Felons and domestic abusers are already prohibited persons...No change there. Making FFLs tell their customers that they have to run a background check? Um, kind of already happens in the purchase process and the 4473. I fail to see how this EO would change anything other than say "Follow the laws already on the books, Jack!" What a waste of paper and ink. Granted, the person signing the EO is an oxygen thief...

    Shitty writing in that article.

“The executive order would direct Attorney General Merrick Garland to clarify the statutory definition of who is "engaged in the business" of selling firearms, an authority the administration official said was detailed in sweeping bipartisan gun legislation Biden signed into law last year after the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.”

To keep throwing out this tired sound bite T45 said off the cuff but NEVER acted on is tiresome.
    It's a reality check.
    Never trust the politicians.

Reagan took your machine gun yet is regarded as a conservative hero.

“I do not believe in taking away the right of the citizen to own guns for sporting, for hunting, and so forth, or for home defense. But I do believe that an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon or needed for the defense of the home.” Ronald Reagan

Reagan was quite right... a full-auto AK47 is not needed for defense of the home...

It IS needed for self-defense from a tyrannical government.

To be a politician means maintaining the current system of government - which implies the means to overthrow that government must be kept from the hands of the people.

Every politician since at least Wilson knows this and has worked to enforce the status quo.

Trump and Reagan are no exceptions.

Reagan may be a conservative hero, but being conservative means nothing in terms of protecting 2A rights.

Hasn't Biden been smacked down enough by the courts on his Executive Orders? Even I know that an Executive Order without supporting legislation is unenforceable.

I have a fart box that he can tongue punch... with apologies to the Good Doctor T.
    I support your assertion.

Has anyone ever seen gun ads targeting minors? Is there a "HiPoint Joe" in the spirit of Camel Joe?

And with regard to T45 I'm sure Don jr pulled him aside and gave him a proper perspective on red flag stuff since it never came up again.

And I completely agree with never trusting politicians, If more people lived by that one statement we wouldn't be in this mess most likely.

There doesn’t need to be a reason that justifies owning a firearm of any type when the constitution guarantees the right to own them.

The 2A also explicitly states the reason. It is NECESSARY to the security of a free state...
