Which one is prettier? The 1972 Colt Python or the 1981 S&W 586?

Both are beauts..beautiful... but I'd say the Python has a little edge.

Always been partial to the python, but the 586 is amazing too

Both beautiful specimens, and I’m partial to the 586 as I think S&W makes the best wheel guns, however, Colt has the finest mirror finish on their revolvers (at least used to, haven’t seen a new one in person). So from a beauty standpoint, Colt hands down.

I'm a Smith guy and I love the way most of them feel in my hand (except the air weights....don't like them). That said, I do really like the Colt high polish blue and the look of the vent rib. Not enough, however to pay 3 to 4 times the price to get an older Python over a S&W 586 or 686

I’d say the 586, I’ve always loved them. Those grips look killer too.
Having said that, I wouldn’t kick either out of bed lol

That's like asking which of your kids you love better. They're both beautiful!

I think the Colt has the edge on looks but the Smith is probably a better pistol.

Interestingly, I’ve always felt that the revolvers without a full under lug - such as the Model 27 - are nicer looking and probably balance better.

But in all seriousness, the S&W by a hair, or should I say the grip.

The Colt. The vent rib and the grips put it over the top.

Love to have both. Pythons are always on my wish list for someday. So Python for the win.

Both are very pretty.

But the Colt Royal Blue and vent rib are prettier.

That said, the smith is probably the more reliable of the two.
