    Ugh!!!

Finished my training yesterday (included prints) Submitted my app this afternoon, got an email from MDSP saying I had “shortages” no prints found!!!

Called training facility they said give it 48 hours!!! I guess I waited all these years another day or two should not kill me….

    I hope!

Yesterday, sitting at work, I get an email from MSP “Your application….”

Looks just like a “thanks for applying but no thanks” employment app email.

I go to the Licensing Portal and BAM!!!!!

    APPROVED

Yeah they can’t just simply say you’re approved congrats.

The “ not disapproved” culture of the past is strong.

Notice, they(MSP) always covers their asses with every email with:

If you believe you have received this email in error, please contact the Maryland State Police Licensing Division at msp.handgunpermits@maryland.gov or at 410.653.4500 as soon as possible.

Another reason the won't just come out and say it. They don't trust their own security.

Just a comparison between MD and PA permits (for me):

    MD
Submit to approved - 67 days
Submit to card in hand - 73 days
    Application fee - $75
    LiveScan fee - $52
    Training exempt (saved $100-300?)
    Total cost - $127
    Permit valid - 2 years, 10 months
    --------------------------------------
    PA
Submit to approved - 24 hours
Submit to card in hand - 7 days (pick up Thursday)
    Permit fee - $25
    No fingerprints required
    Total cost - $25
    Permit valid - 5 years

    York County
Part of that is PA trust the Process/restrictions in MD. Compare the resident permit cost and time. MD is still likely higher but the delta is likely much less.

Ok, so application accepted 9/2, just got an email saying written disposition would be sent in 10-14 days, but it invited me to the MSP site and there it said APPROVED.
So what am I getting in the mail, a W&C permit?
    I guess. I hope. I pray.
As some have said here, never got notified of NICS, references contacted, or date of interview.
I suppose that’s procedural rearview mirror unless or until they staff up to meet demand. Not bloody likely.
    Cheers.

You will receive your permit when the USPS decides to deliver it. Nobody gets notified of NICS you have to go looking for it. They stopped checking references and having interviews when they went shall issue but they haven't updated their web site.

FYI if anyone is looking to do their DC carry it’s gonna be a while. You need an appointment to hand in the paperwork, but they have no open appointments until Dec 20th and you have to schedule it on the website.

That seems to be normal back log. When I was looking for appointments 3rd week of August, I had to settle for Mid September appointment...it was approved quicker than 90 days though. YMMV. (Approved in 50 days)
