Ammo sales - Run on ammo?

This really seems like a man-made emergency, meaning, a panic buy.

Here we go again!

Sure it is, unless a whole lot of folks plan on fighting off Hamas here in our diverse country. There may also be some waiting for Brandon to declare a freeze on sale due to shortages overseas. I wonder how much 7.62x39 Lake City actually makes ?

It's panic buying for sure. I think the warehouses are still pretty full but it won't last long unless things settle quickly. I had trouble getting on some sites yesterday but managed to get an order in around 2:30am.

Am I panic buying? I don't think so. I've been slightly below my lower comfort threshold for awhile and have been too busy with life to order more. Recent events suggest this might be the last best time for awhile. It doesn't take long for warehouses to empty. It does take a long long time to fill them back up again. War appears to be contagious. We are living in "interesting times" in the Chinese curse sense of the term.

Get while the gettin's good. No promises what tomorrow will bring.

Panics create their own shortages.

That's not to say that there wouldn't have been a shortage anyway; war eats a lot of brass.

Prices are rising, though, and some things are hard to find. Oddball calibers are sidelined while major orders are struggling to be filled. Ammoseek reports only one dealer has 32ACP Winchester Silvertip, and that guy has only a partial box of 32 rounds for sale!

I walked into Tyler firearms today. Chuck said they sold 6 ARs just yesterday. Their last AR sold this morning within 30 minutes of opening. He said he hasn't sold over 6 ARs in the past two months combined.

People worried about Israel / Hamas, call to Jihad, etc.

I snoozed on 5.56 ammo. Prices have gone up enough that I guess I'll crank up the reloader. I do like to have at least a few thousand rounds of factory ammo on hand.

I noticed a slight increase in the cost of 9mm on bulkammo. 1k rounds from some manufacturers went from $250 to $265. Hopefully it's not a trend.
Got some cheap 556 last month, well it will be if I ever get my rebate from Winchester

Hope you get it soon. I mailed mine a couple weeks ago, so will probably be getting my check around Christmas
Paid 46¢/round inc. tax and shipping for 556,
will be about 36/round once I cash the rebate check. Can't beat that for name brand factory 556 in 2023!

Might have to do with the velocity of money.

Blow it out, get the cash and buy more while you can get a decent price, vs hang onto it and hope to sell it high, to the desperate.

SGAmmo doesn't always have the lowest price, but they often have the more oddball calibers. Also free shipping over $200, which is nice.

A friend told me Mollys Place has 9mm FMJ (various brands) for $240/1000 and free shipping. I just ordered 2000 rounds, should be delivered Tuesday.

Thanks for the heads up. That's cheaper than bulkammo where I've been ordering from, plus free shipping which usually costs like $25. I'll probably order a case when my rebate check comes in.
