I will not pay more than $.50 a round for 5.56. I really don't like paying even that much. I never thought I'd see the day my 8mm K98 would be cheaper to shoot than my AR15.

Dang, with the price and rarity of .223 or 5.56, I guess I could just shoot 30-06 through my BAR if I want my semiauto rifle fix.

The prices these days are insane! No way I'm paying more than .50/rd. I certainly wish I had bought more ammo before all of this, but I'm also glad I've got a decent stock. Guess those Carbine classes I wanted to take this year are out of the question though. The idea of running through $500-$1000 worth of ammo in a day or 2 makes me cringe...

They seem to only have re-manufactured left. Anyone try these? Are they any good?

Anything that comes out of southwest is very high quality and consistent. Have shot and will continue to shoot lots of their .308.

Bass Pro had Hornaday .223 55 grain varmint in plastic ammo boxes for the low price of 200 for $219 today. I held one for a few minutes and decided to put it back on the shelf. They had a shipment of other 223's that were put on the shelves this morning but was gone in minutes. My Colt LE6920 is a 1:7 twist and does better with 62 grain anyways....at least that's what I keep telling myself...:envy:

I should've listened to popgunner and bought more 30 cal cans of that 855 when we had it stacked up at basspro for $140 or so a while back.

I got a few cans when Engage had it at 140 something. It boggles my mind to see the prices more than doubled now. I will wait this out as well for anything center fire.
