Today is my birthday. I haven't been to the range as much as I have wanted, so I went out today for an hour or so with the wife, daughter, and a friend of ours who had never done any shooting.

Figured since I turned forty-five today, I would focus on shooting the 1911.

My last trip out was not so great and I was all over the target.

In the first five minutes, I took off my prescription glasses, put on regular sunglasses (my eye sight is lousy) and put five rounds into the magazine.

It looks like I'm back in the groove. At least at fifteen yards and blind as a bat.

Afterward, I shot a couple of empty shotgun hulls and was dared to shoot a .45 ACP case. I joked with Maddie that I would hit it in three shots.

At ten yards, I hit it on the third. Really. You could have knocked me over with a feather.

Happy birthday Joe. Nice shooting. I also shoot without my glasses. I figure if I ever need to shoot, I won't be anywhere near my glasses.

Maddie didn't do so bad herself. This was her first outing in a long while. She put four in the pistol......and four in the target.

Happy birthday. I have the same problem with my glasses and shooting. If you flip your bifocals so the short range section is on top, you'll do better than with them on the correct way.

    Happy Birthday!

Man I wish I was 45 again. It's been a long time since I was young enough that any handgun caliber was the same number as my age.

Happy Birthday. But shame on you for not getting out more often to shoot. <jk>

    Good Shooting Tex!
