    The Ruger Redhawk 5032 45LC/45 auto using Buffalo Bore hard cast bullets or equiv is also good bear medicine and you can use cheaper 45 auto for practice. YMMV.

    You should also have a friend walk with you while you’re armed. Then, if your shots don’t stop the bear from charging, cap your friend in the leg. You’ll get away from the bear. :cool16:

    I have hunted and killed both Kodiac and Black bear. Anything under a 44 magnum is just insane for protection. Especially when you are surprised by one as it sneaks up to you. Bear spray would be your better option.
