With all of the hoopla surrounding the new version of the Colt Python, I thought it might be interesting to some, to post photos of the model that spawned the "Legend". The "357" model came to be in 1954, one year before the introduction of the Python. The Python is actually a dressed up "357"...
I posted this on another forum, but since some of you enablers nudged me to buy this pistol, I thought it would be appropriate to post it here. Thanks.
I'm a huge fan of the 45acp cartridge. I shoot a lot of it, mostly in revolvers with moonclips, but I've accumulated a few semi-auto pistols...
I was at the range yesterday with two very different shooters. Going from 45acp to 22lr makes for an interesting session. The H&R "22 Special" is circa 1935. The S&W 625-2 is from 1988. Big differences in age and caliber. No double taps or mag dumps, just a lot of fun.
Just received these. They bear a strong resemblance to Nill stocks, but are priced lower. Solid walnut. Very precise fit. Feel great in my medium sized hands. Made in the Czech Republic. They're being worn on an early S&W 586, a 581 and 625-2.
Recently acquired this one. Walther P5 (9mm). Pretty cool design and a direct descendant of the P38. Very interesting pivoting firing pin safety system. Decocker and slide release function off of the same control. Had to get used to the left side ejection port.
One of the rarest Sigs out there. A Browning BDA (Sig P220) in 38 Super from 1977. These were among the first Sigs imported to the USA. It was also available in 45acp and 9mm in larger numbers. Only about 750 were made in 38 super. The flats on the slide are polished, but don't show well in the...
Just like the title says. I'm looking for an FFL in the Baltimore metro area who will send a copy of his license to a private seller and accept a gun transfer with a copy of the sellers driver's license.
I know my handgun preferences are at odds with those of many forum members, but I couldn't resist showing off something that I just picked up. This is pure gun making art from 1939, and will never be produced again. The revolver is a S&W K-22 Outdoorsman. The level of fit and finish is amazing...
Having more free time on my hands than I need, I was going through my safe. These three were sitting on the table together, and I thought they'd make a nice portrait. Show us yours. Top to bottom (all S&W): 686, 681, 66
I'm not sure how long the new rules have been in force, but if you put a gun on consignment and want it back, you fill out a 77R and have a 3 day wait. If this has been discussed before, sorry for the duplication.
Thought I'd share. Just bought this Browning BDM. Not rare, but not something you see everyday. Dual mode--shoots DAO ("revolver" mode) or like any other DA/SA semi-auto. Very thin, but accommodates a double stack 15 round mag. All steel. Made in America. Disassembles like a Sig. Definitely not...
Recognized as the forerunner of the Colt Python, the model "357" was built from 1954-1961. Same mechanics without the Python bling. Thought some of you six-shooter fans might enjoy these photos of my recent acquisition. This is one of the earliest ones (1954) in the duo-tone finish, rounded...
I'm looking for recommendations for a very experienced gunsmith who works on older S&W revolvers (guns well over 50 years old). Must be in the Baltimore metro area. Who are using these days?
I went to the fair the other night. Saw the signs not allowing knives, etc. Returned my totally legal folder to the car. Was checked before entering. Silly me, I could have bought a knife in the exhibition hall. Wonder if they would let me carry it around after my purchase???
I had this out of the safe last night and wanted to post it for you plastic semi-auto fans so you can appreciate the gun makers art, instead of something that came out of a mold. LOL. It's a S&W model 66-1. A pinned and recessed beauty.
I recently bought a Colt 1917 revolver. It is in excellent condition, except for a little surface rust. I've used different methods for rust removal, with varying degrees of success, and found out about Blue Wonder gun cleaner on a Smith and Wesson forum. It worked great with 4/0 superfine steel...
