A trick I teach women who have a hard time racking a slide. Instead of pull the slide back, hold the slide and push the grip forward. It makes a big difference.
Nobody has mentioned the most important reason. Different chokes. My first barrel has a wider choke and my follow up barrel is tighter since I will be shooting at a greater distance typically.
I am a little surprised by the hammer and the attention to detail. WWII was about getting as many functional weapons built without too much attention to aesthetic details.

Could it be from a tight slide during manufacturing and being hit with a hammer and laping compound. It was a world war so aesthetic considerations were secondary.

I just got my C&R and it only took 2 1/2 weeks. I will post pictures of my first C&R purchase tomorrow. A Colt 1911 from 1943.

It is so important to support our local business's especially when you are talking about less than 50 bucks. If you are buying a gun sight unseen, you have no idea how it will fit in your hand, is the trigger right etc. I will gladly pay the extra cash just to be sure it's the right gun. I am...
I mailed my application on the 15th of September and my credit card was charged on the 21st. How long do you think it will be before I get my C&R in the mail?
The seller was completely negligent. When handing a gun over to a potential customer, you have no idea if they know how to properly handle and check if the gun is unloaded. I am sure that they broke the rules for the gun show too.
I really wanted a Kimber Micro but from what I have heard, Kimber quality has dropped and I have seen several feed and eject issues online. I just ordered a Sig P938 SAS but unfortunately 2A says that the Sig is so backed up that I probably won't get it until next year. The P938 is a SA micro...
Here is a joke that rings true with the "Gun Free Zones".
A DEA officer stopped at a ranch in Texas , and talked with an old rancher. He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs." The rancher said, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there.....", as he...
Hot gun a section of wooden dow rod in the bottom of the magazine to allow only 10 rounds. This is a legal way to make it a 10 round magazine. Removing said dow rod within MD would probably be considered manufacturing, however if I were to go the VA or PA and remove said rod, it would be legal.
I have my eyes on a 1911A1 manufactured in 1943 so I decided to take the plunge and get a C&R. The 1911 in question is located in VA so the question I have is this. Once I get my C&R approved, can I have this gun sent directly to me, or does the HQL BS take precedence?
Another question I...
