I picked up my first Mauser a few weeks ago, a Yugo-refurbed, K98, chambered in 8mm. I have wanted one for a long time and this came up, along with surplus ammo!
Hopefully i can get to the range tomorrow and see how she shoots!
Buying a milsurp rifle for $35 in this day-and-age is hard to resist; plus, 6.5cal ammo is A LOT easier to find versus the 7.35cal that other model Carcanos were chambered in!
I have never had any jams or FTFs when using CCI SV in my 795; CCI SV is my favorite target ammo. I do not get as a consistent group at 50 and 100 yards when compared to 40 GRN Mini-mags.
I own both as well; I have tech-sights on my 795 and really enjoy it. Both are accurate in my opinion. A couple of practical points; I find my 795 is better for bench shooting because you do not have to move too much to swap out a mag (assuming you have more than one) as opposed to the 60...
I usually go to Cresap every Sunday, morning crowd. I usually get there between 9a-9:20a and hang out.
I usually wear a Redskins or Caps hat. In the past year, the rules have changed, but it is the only real place i can shoot regularly that fits my schedule so i am grateful.
Ditto on the Wolf Extra Match .22lr  I picked up a brick a couple of months ago when Classic had them.
Definitely have an oily film, but wow did it group well; sub-MOA at 50 yards! I haven't tried the Norma stuff yet, but may now based on your feedback.
