      Got Some Varget Today...

I'm looking for some powder for the .256 win mag I bought a month ago. 4227,H110, 2400, etc. And any one got a cheap .25 cal mold for the fireforming loads?? Prefer a 68 to 88 grain mold.thanks! If anyone has any light (60 to 87) grain JACKETED 25 cal bullets they are not using I could/would...

      my first rounds.

I helped a guy reload some .44 Mag rounds, HE did the work, I just explained what and why as he went along. When finished I took him out to the range to fire the ammo. He's a big strong guy and my trigger is only about 3 pounds. It took him almost a minute to fire that first round. After...

      Reloading .256 Win Mag

I just got a 256 win contender barrel. I have reformed some .223 cases but that is a LOT of trimming. Haven't shot it yet as the extractor wont work on this rimless brass. The only bullets I have for it are 70 grain HP's. I may have to break down and buy a file/trim die for about 40 bucks...

Pa. state police took my buddy's tec-9 last nite

one of my friends had a gun the police "checked" for criminal activity by the previous owner. When it was returned, it was junk! A collectable colt SAA before the police checked it, a paper weight when returned!

      Bass Pro Update

I think this is a practice with most of these places. I was at Kittery Trading Post some years ago. I wanted to buy a 7-30 Contender barrel and dies. Two guys (employees) were lounging around the counter. As I approached ,they bolted away. I yelled I needed to find a fire alarm and they both...

      Primers and powders selected....bullets?

Why do you NEED quality bullets to plink?? It is best to go with the bullet makers reccommended loads for best results. Pressure will be different when other styles of equal weight bullets are used. This should not be an issue with plinking ammo, but MIGHT be a problem with target or top end...

      44 magnum ammo questions

What different purpose ?? I like to practice with the lightest loads I can find .240 to 250 grain bullets are what I deer hunt with. I do NOT use any of those real heavy weight slugs as I have Carpal tunnel and Arthritis in my wrists and hands. In fact, I rarely use any factory ammo any more. I...

Report - cheaper powder, primers, etc

The OP did NOT say he was storing all that piowder! He does have a relative or two that share his shooting/ reloading interests!" you can buy 8 lb kegs if you didn't live in Maryland. I also saved $11 per 25 pounds of shot."

      School me right quick

http://www.exteriorballistics.com/reloadbasics/gasgunreload.cfm Any one deciding to reload for an AR or ANY semi auto should under stand the differences in resizing and powder choices. The wrong powder can cause many problems. Bad sizing can cause bad feeding and other related bad things. It...

      .357 Air Rifle

And also Maryland's hunting regs require 1200 fpe from a rifle to be legal! Check it out. Unless they've changed it this year. I'm not sure how that would effect varmint shooting, but deer is out

Does PMC TAC 5.56 ammo have military crimped primers?

I have Fed .223 brass that has crimped primers! I was a bit surprised when I discovered that MANY companies now crimp their primers. Seems many Law enforcement units use commercial .223 in their AR's and want the crimped ammo for safety. At least that's what I have been told!

      Trimming .223

I don't THINK 5.56 is any longer than .223, BUT Spec's may differ. I have 5.56 brass that weighs from 81 grains to OVER 110 grains (Sako!) I always sort by weight after sizing and trimming. I pick up lots of brass that RICH guys leave on the floor when done shooting. They are always resighting...

      cast bullet question

Good FIT to bore is the MOST important thing in shooting cast bullets. Lube is second in MY opinion. This REALLY looks like a Lee mold bullet. Many of the lee molds drop a slightly large bullet. Alloy CAN cause this also. That is a pure lead bullet will drop from the mold smaller than a linotype...

      cast bullet question

If I was stuck using 3031 ,I'd start at 21.5 grains for about 1500-1600 fps and stop at 27 grains for about 2000 fps. Of course I'd get a Cast Bullet manual, like one from Lyman and study it first! There IS some danger of going to LIGHT with a powder charge. My bullets that LOOK like the one you...

Anybody ever used a 110 grain V-max for Deer duty?

I used those short jacket 30 caliber 110's in a 30-06 on ground hogs one year(A LONG time ago!). Some times they would blow up BEFORE they got to the critters! When they DID connect, they would blow the hog apart. If you must use a lighter than 150 grain slug ,SLOW IT DOWN! You do not need 3000...
