Not that impressive. There are a few air rifles that have had that kind of power way before Crossman came out with it.

    - Quackenbush airguns makes rifles in .308 and .50 (yes, that is AIRGUN)
    - ShinSung / Career has a series of rifles in .357 and .50
    - EunJin has been making those for a while, too

i'm wondering if these things would be lethal and you could carry a pistol version for self defense to get around maryland law?

Some of these high range airguns would most def be lethal with vital placement.

Benjamin Marauder, Norica goliath, Gamo Socom, HUnter extreme....all deadly airguns.

Then you've got the Sam Yang big bore that can put a .45 through concrete...you guys should check out some of the youtube vids of the big bore.

I carry a gamo pt-85 socom with polymag type ammo when hiking deep in the woods.

I would not want to be shot with one as it can put a pellet through plywood.

IT caught my eye but the bullets arnt that much cheaper than actual .357 ammo!.

Think I would rather have a really good .22 or .25 caliber gun.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I never knew about this gun. I obviously blew through the NRA museum too fast the last time I was there. Gotta fix that on my next trip.

I wish. But separate from the gun laws we have this:

    (c) Prohibited.
    (1) A person may not wear or carry a dangerous
weapon of any kind concealed on or about
    the person.
    (2) A person may not wear or carry a dangerous
    weapon, chemical mace, pepper mace,
or a tear gas device openly with the intent or
purpose of injuring an individual in an unlawful
    manner.
(3)(i) This paragraph applies in Anne Arundel
County, Baltimore County, Caroline County, Cecil
County, Harford County, Kent County, Montgomery
    County, Prince George's County, St.
    Mary's County, Talbot County, Washington
    County, and Worcester County.
(ii) A minor may not carry a dangerous weapon
between 1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before
sunrise, whether concealed or not, except
    while:
    1. On a bona fide hunting trip; or
    2. Engaged in or on the way to or returning
from a bona fide trap shoot, sport shooting
event, or any organized civic or military activity.

And also Maryland's hunting regs require 1200 fpe from a rifle to be legal! Check it out. Unless they've changed it this year. I'm not sure how that would effect varmint shooting, but deer is out

Very cool video. Makes me think twice about air guns. Lots of advantages in today's world too. Powder, nah! Brass, nah! Noise, nah!

Seems like some of the larger caliber airguns are powerful enough to have actual value as a last-ditch self defense weapon.

Gary Barnes builds all kinds of custom pneumatic guns. I watched him testing a .44 cal rifle he said he hunts wild pigs with. Kills 'em dead. Loud enough you'll want to wear ear pro...

Heck of a nice guy, too.

That .357 rifle looks like it has some really neat tech in it, but it seems far too expensive when compared to air rifles that are in its performance category.

I picked up a Korean .50 air rifle earlier this year, it's scary how much power a gun powered by a (beefy) bicycle pump can dish out.

There are big bore air rifles that run the gambit of calibers, with even 12 gauge (.72) and 20mm air rifles having been made.
