    Yep.

    started about ten years ago.

I had a slight run-in with a “salesman” who, ignoring the “No Soliciting” sign on the front door walked around the house and spooked me while I was working on a generator. only weapon i had in hand was a screwdriver.

he had a clipboard, no ID, gave me a hard time about “you gonna stab me with that?”

    wanna try me?

fortunately he scuttled off in a hurry.

he didn’t get anywhere near the front door or the dogs would’ve gone off.

no I didn’t call “the man” but I spoke with some neighbors about it.

I’ve carried nearly every time I go outside since.
Glad you survived. As threatening as that situation was I'm surprised you didn't stab him. Completely justified.

She ignored it for a few minutes and then completely busted me on my latest acquisition which was riding in the holster. She asked about it and actually learned how a DA/SA with decocker works upon asking about it and if one was in the chamber.
Wait, so you're not going to name this latest DA/SA acquisition with decocker that wifey didn't know about? You're already busted, you can talk about it now. ;)

Went outside of the CZ fam for this one... HK P30SK V3.

Today was just the formal busting. Apparently, the receipt fell out of my back pocket when I returned home after picking it up a few weeks ago in the house and I did not notice.

Interesting option. Smaller than my PCR, just a bit bulkier at the back than my RAMI but 2 oz lighter.

Do you find using the different mag release to be automatic, or will there be a learning curve?

I picked it up as a slightly smaller option to my PCR... never did find a decocker RAMI. I actually find the paddle mag release to be pretty intuitive. The more I use it, the more I think the chance of an accidental release is minimized by the design. Like a DA trigger, it's a very deliberate movement to make something happen.

Here’s a way I found to have a handgun nearby without having to take on and off a holster when I go out or want to sit at my desk more comfortably. I can take it off and sit it down on stuff without worrying about scratching things. The latter is an issue I find with carbines and bigger firearms. The shoulder strap allows you to carry on the back or you can switch it to sit around front.

I like to have something near. I own the guns so I feel I better have them close just in case something were to happen.

But even now that pistol is unloaded in my range bag a few feet away as I was out shooting a few hours ago. I’m working on getting used to the short reset trigger.

I live in a top floor apartment with a thick steel front door. Nobody is getting in my apartment unless they have a 40 foot ladder to come in through my balcony sliding glass door. That would be pretty hard to do without anyone noticing since my balcony faces the road and my building is set quite far back from the road. 2 guys carrying a ladder from their vehicle across my front yard wouldn't fly under anyone's radar unless they had an elaborate scheme disguised as maintenance workers and somehow had a utility truck at their disposal. Unlikely.

That said, I never have the need to carry at home. However I do keep a loaded pistol in my bedroom should I ever need to access it.

Years ago when I lived in Balto city, 2nd floor apt. I was chilling in the living room watching TV and within a split second two dudes with ski masks had guns pointed at me. Even if I had one on me it would have been taken. They left with $1.
It happens when you least expect it and differently than how you run the scenario through your head planning for it.

What kinda locks you have on that door? Blaster and I might just be able to pick those locks in under 2 minutes, maybe less.

Man, you got to be smart around the missus. Remember, they go through your pockets every time they do the wash.

I'm on the 3rd floor. It makes a big difference. You can easily hoist yourself up on the 2nd floor balconies without a ladder here. You can't do that with the 3rd floor.

If I’m wearing pants in the house I’m carrying. If I’m wearing gym shorts or just boxer briefs then no, they don’t support a belt. Like others said it’s easier to leave it on and if uncomfortable it might be the wrong rig, mine is unobtrusive and very comfortable.

Sorry that happened to you. That is why I will NEVER live in the city.

I'm carrying unless I'm sleeping or at work. I don't care a lot about concealment at home, I'm much more in favor of comfort, so OWB under a t shirt works for me. I'll grab a better cover garment if I'm leaving my property.

I run all my errands on days off or after going home to get a pistol.

I don't yet have my MD permit (application was accepted in mid-Sept), but I do often carry at home and have for years. My take on it is that if someone breaks into my home, I will need to have access to my gun as fast as possible. On my body is a lot quicker than across the room, or worse, in a different room or on a different floor. Once I have my permit, I can't carry at work (and MD storage and transport laws would seem to ban storing it in the car even if I was allowed to have it in my car on school property), but the rest of the time it will be on my person in or out of the house until I go to bed (then it will be, as it is now, in a quick access safe next to my bed).

Oh, 9 times out of 10 I still have it concealed even at home. If I have to answer the door, I'd rather not freak out my neighbors or whomever else it is (assuming I answer the door, if I don't expect you there's a good chance I won't if I look out the peep hole and don't recognize you).
