Just curious if any of you regularly shoot a semiautomatic pistol at 100 yards. If so are you having any success and what are you using. We have it a try yesterday with a variety a pistols and seemed to have the most success with a Sig P320 full size I built. I'm going to take my Glock G34 Next time and give it a try.

Have done it a few times. Springfield 1911 in .45 and a Glock 19c. With the price of ammo and the difficulty in getting supplies it won’t be a “big” part of our training.

I had my 45s there but didn't bother. We went from shooting at 10, 25, then 100 yards. When I do it again I'll probably work in 10 yard increments and see what happens. I think for an out of the box pistol the G34 will be my best shot.

Why? What’s the max effective combat range of your pistol?

You have to shoot somebody 100yds/300ft/1 Footbal Field away from you, dontcha think you ought to breakout a long gun like your AR or other Carbine of choice?

    I know….Indiana Mall Shooting….Dickens Drill….Yadda, Yadda, Yadda

Well, I’ll counter with North Hollywood and FBI Miami Shootouts….Harrumph

Always use enough gun…..Harrumph…..Or Choose to use Cover and Concealment to Close your range for effective engagement….Harrumph

    100 Yards….Waste of Ammo…..Harrumph

And if you don’t have a Long Gun then you need to get yourself an AS-007 with 100 yd accuracy that hasn’t been seen before, I guarantee

    Oh….Harrumph

Sorry but watching one of my favorite movies…..Harrumph

Do it all the time...but at 150 yards. Its really not that big of a deal. A snub nose at 50 is harder that a 1911 at 100 yards.

Ruger Mk // Hunter with the 6-7/8" slab sided bull barrel @ 100 yards. Fiber sight. Steel target. Try it seated, then standing, then one handed. Then the other hand.

.22lr takes it's own sweet time to reach the target. Once you have it dialed in, the "Pop!..Plink!" sound is it's own reward.

Focusing on the target, controlling your breathing, the clean break of the trigger, it's all very Zen and how I relax.

Lighten up, Francis. Makes no difference to me what you do.

Just throwing my .02 into what I thought was an open discussion
while I’m relaxing with MDS, a movie and a very tasty adult libation.

The real question is, what is your libation of choice this evening?

Dang , none of y'all have every watched Revolver Class at an IHSMA match .

Autoloaders are more accuracy limited , but 100yd is still only half distance .

Did the 45 make it to the target?
    According to this, no.

True Dat and banging silhouettes is an extremely fun but demanding and sometimes frustrating shooting sport.

Yup. Every time I go to delmarva sporting clays. I can hit the steel at 100 pretty regularly with my subcompact 9 w/ holosun 407c and my m&p45. The 200 gets tricky real quick. I feel good if I get 3 hits out of a magazine out there.

100 yards? Yards not feet? Good lord. I can hit a silhouette at 75 FEET, most of the time, although it isn't exactly a tight shot group, with several handguns. I thought I was a decent shot but I can't imagine taking pistol shots at 100 yards. That is a LONG way.
