Talk to me about carrying in Baltimore, more particularly in buildings like Johns Hopkins.

I've made at least 5 trips to the ENT doctors at Hopkins for checkups and surgery on my son's ears regarding tubes. Coming from the eastern shore, I would love to have protection on me but am worried I would be turned away and I'm obviously not locking my firearm in the car unattended. We all know concealed is concealed if done correctly but do they have metal detectors that only detect large items like firearms?

Probably a dumb thread but thought it could be interesting to discuss visiting the hole that is Bmore.

I haven't worked there in a few years, but I am not aware of metal detectors. If you haven't seen any the times you have gone, then they are not there.

There's probably an impression of my a** in every single waiting room in that god forsaken hospital, Bayview, Green spring, Odenton. You get the point.....
I was Downtown, through the outpatient center and over to Meyer all the way through last week. I have never seen a metal detector anywhere in their facilities - that I have been able to spot. I've never been searched. I've been stopped by security desk people once or twice and PIA'd but other than that nothing. Signs are on the doors. Wife has had too much surgery to keep track of. We lost track at 50. Not pimple poppers. OR Surgeries, Gen anesthesia blah blah. I haven't been through Zayed recently (the new tower), but there could be detectors on the doors themselves. I'm NOT sure on that one though.

Thankfully she's just monitoring/management at this point, but as far as carrying, other than signs stating no weapons, I have never spotted any sort of detection measures other than general security camera, that would stop you from entering while carrying concealed. I've been schlepping through there for roughly 15 years. I've never taken more than a pocket knife through there, but then again I'm just a general non-tactical fat guy with no permit - yet.

Keep in mind what you paid for my opinion as always ! Good luck with Jr..

There are no metal detectors at JHU hospitals. However, it is considered University property and hence Illegal to carry on the campuses.
You will not get searched, however if you print or are called out they claim to have a 3 minute response and you will be arrested.

    Not worth the risk.

Agreed I wouldn't carry anywhere I'm not supposed to and all this is new to a lot of us in MD. We only have two visits left hopefully.

Agree, I have no permit, so I've never been able to carry there legally anyway (do have FL though), but I would just leave it in the car in a small safe/lock box. I'm on the downward slope of 3 years till retirement - I'm not looking to make any waves...

Ever since Dr Cohen got shot 2009-2010 don’t remember the date, JHU has trained their security to look for signs of someone carrying.

I'm sure Baltimore would love to make an example out of someone carrying where they are not supposed to with a permit. I'd imagine the punishment would be worse if you were a multiple felon with an illegal handgun.

I have Subtitle 59 from pages 180 - 194 on your pdf, but what exactly are you pointing to?

You're far smarter than I could hope to be.
Look to the bottom of each page for its numbers, and no, I swear I'm not.

Ah yes, now I do see 168 at the bottom of page 180./

But are you just pointing to the whole of Subtitle 59, or anything in particular?

I miss going to Capt. Larry's Tavern (not making a joke).

Won't be me! I'll just have to dodge the illegal bullets and squeegee boys best I can.
