Look at the Johnson 1941 rifles. Other than a small sampling used by the USMC not really a US military arm (or even a combat-used rifle) and yet they sell about 5 to 10 times the price of a Garand. The FP-45 will always be in demand and if you buy smart, shop S-Mart you'll be ok. The biggest con for some folks is that you can't shoot it (unless you have a good hand surgeon on tap). The repros are built better and supposedly are safe to shoot, but not a pleasant experience.

I have one that I paid $50 for back in the 80's. (And no, it's not for sale!) Came in its box with the cartoon instructions and all. I fired it exactly once and swore never again. My advice: save your nickels and buy something substantial. These things are a sick joke that have little or no real historical value other than their iconic tie to the OSS and their long string of bad wartime ideas that were never implemented for good reasons.

I think you could buy two SG Garands for the price of one of those things, unless you mean the repop.

The repop really makes no sense.

Love to see range report, I will help you zero!!

The originals are 100% unsafe to shoot... "look at the welds, man!". They were only meant for a very limited number of shots in the first place under dire conditions. I've never seen a single positive review of shooting one of these. If you want to replicate the experience, lay your hand on a flat surface and smack it with a hammer :)

Purely a collector item... and it does have it's place in the historical record.
If you collect WW2 / US small arms it's an interesting piece to have.

If you're a collector / shooter that has to shoot every piece they own, then it's definitely not one to have.

I would rather use that $1,500 buy a Walther P38 that was "liberated" and M1 Carbine, and M1 Garand, or 1903A3 and have money left for ammo. Those weapons would have scene more action and are a better piece of history than the FP-45 Liberator. That is my opinion. You do you.
