The MGA nonsense made Bearing Arms today.

Not Just VA: MD Dems Introduce Gun Ban, Registration Bill
    https://bearingarms.com/came/2020/02/12/md-dems-gun-ban-registration-bill/
As Democrats in Virginia are advancing Gov. Ralph Northam’s gun, magazine, and suppressor ban, their counterparts in the Maryland legislature are getting ready to crack down once again on the state’s legal gun owners with a gun ban bill of their own.

HB1261 has the backing of the House speaker in Annapolis, which gives it a little extra weight and improves the chances of the bill’s passage. That would be disastrous for gun owners in the state, who would not only face a registration requirement for their so-called assault weapons, but onerous fees that would prohibit many gun owners from complying with the requirement if they wanted to...

People with guns do not make good slave. People who have the capacity to fight back do not bend over and kiss their rings. This is not about public safety. This is about disarming citizens, so that the can not fight the tyranny of the government. Look how much the gun laws of 2013 did to end shooting in Baltimore City. They write law after law to somehow neuter the American citizen, yet the shootings and killings in Baltimore climb everyday. Why do they not put as much energy into ending this. Why because there is no political advantage in Baltimore. Baltimore is controlled by a corrupt legalized political extortion ring that no one can touch. Ending the violence or letting it continue does not have any political outcome. WEwe will not win in Baltimore County and we will not win in Montgomery County, but please tell me how we are loosing delegates in other places. This is what we need to concentrate on, because as long as their is no political consequences they will just continue and they are emboldened by the pursuit of gun laws in Virginia and other states. So as I read earlier find the DemoRATS who are in tough areas and go there and apply your resource to out these bastards. If we do not even if HB 1261 fails tis year they are never going to stop until we have nothing but spoons.

The answer can be found in large part in gerrymandering.

Last time around, in 2011-2012 after the 2010 census, O'Malley managed a process that corrupted every Republican district by linking it to geographically distant Dem strongholds.

Supreme Court gave it a pass.

One of the things Hogan can do, if he wants to, is to reverse some of this blatantly discriminatory nonsense. Of course, it will still have to get a signoff from the GA. My concern is that he will play to lose, in order to have a shot at a US Senate seat. But who knows? He might be an honorable politician.

Please restrain yourselves. I've actually met a few.

Continual jerrymandinering. Example, the 33rd was once a purple district for the House of Delegates. Its now been chopped into a 33A and 33B with no hope for a Republican to ever win.

I’ve been an introvert about this for a while now but it’s time to actually start writing emails and showing up for rally days. I’ve realized throwing money at organizations hoping it will help will simply not cut it anymore. I’ve grown extremely passionate about the 2nd Amendment and my constitutional rights and I don’t want to be that guy that sits back and does nothing.

That being said, I’m not the best at writing a well read, diplomatic email. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. PM me if you could please, thanks!

So I’m a college student. And most of my peers are anti gun so I’m very much a minority in that regard. As a broke college student, What can I do?

Welcome to the fight, folks, and thank you for your interest. :mdpatriot The first and simplest thing you can do (tonight, even) is begin recruiting more folks. Remember the gospel according to G.I. Joe, "Knowing is half the battle." It is absolutely appalling how many people, even at gun shows, do not know what is going on in Annapolis...or even what the HQL is. Educate yourself at www.marylandshallissue.org and www.msrpa.org, and tell you friends, relatives, coworkers, classmates, dogwalkers, ballwashers, etc. what is going on, and that we need their help (starting with getting them to spread the word to everyone they know).

Call and write your representatives. Don't know who they are?

Pester the ones on the pertinent committees even if they aren't your reps. Get your friends and their friends to do the same.

Find a way to get to Annapolis to testify in person. We don't have a hearing date for this bill, but come to one of the others (like on 2/19 or 2/20) as a "warm up." Touch base with some of the "regulars" like Biggfoot44, knovotny, MJD438, AdolfOliverBush, esqappellate, ShafTed, Not an Outlaw, Stoveman, Squaregrouper, Tball, (I'm sure I've left out a few) etc. or some of the new stars like Kicken Wing, Ziptiespec, or NewTwo to learn what to expect. I'm sure any of them would be happy to show you the ropes, once you park at the Stadium and ride the shuttle bus (bring $5 cash to park and $4 for the bus) to lawyer's mall, and get there before 11am to sign in.

Written testimony needs to be in PDF format on a usb drive. MSI's testimony is available on their site, and can give you some hints. You don't have to be a great public speaker. Personal stories about how bills will (or would have) affect(ed) you and your family are great! But, standing up, saying your name, and "I oppose/support this bill, thank you" is a lot more than nothing.

I've been amazed at how open to listening some of the reps on the other side have been when I've bumped into them in the halls. A few of them are absolutely lost causes, but a couple have actually listened. It is a very different experience being face to face with them, not in front of a microphone with a time limit. Just being there seems like another half of the battle. Talk to the friendlies too. Ask them what you can do to help with your testimony. They can key you in to some of the behind the scenes politics, and offer valuable insight like, "As soon as you mention crime in Baltimore City, all the Democrats roll their eyes and tune you out."

To win the long game, in addition to the continual education and motivation of existing gun owners, you can get more people involved in the shooting sports. That is a step to the only real way to truly affect change: altering the makeup of the MD General Assembly. Obviously, it won't happen this session. We need to break the Democrat supermajority. Some folks say Republicans are bad, too. Republicans aren't the ones trying to do this to us...but if you can help miracle some Libertarians in there, fine...great! Whatever...just fewer Democrats.

There are some who will say that we are wasting our time in Annapolis. That will be less true if the supermajority is broken. For now, let me offer this suggestion: As bad as it seems, just imagine what would happen if we didn't have any voice down there...if no one testified at all, except the endless line of demanding mommies. If that was the only presence seen or heard, how could any legislators not pass anything and everything bloomburg wanted?

Getting every gun owner you know aware of what is going on is a very important step. Have them call or email their representative. It is 5 minutes out of their lives and if they also tell all of their friends to do the same, we can quickly make this a re-election concern for our electing officials. THAT is what matters to them.

ETA- Always be polite and professional. You want to convince the legislator you are a normal citizen and have a bunch of friends who think the same way.

I see we are going down the "it could have been much worse" road again. F*ck all this sh*t. Let them pass it and increase the penalties ten fold. That's the only way some will ever get enough nerve to push back. I have said it before, it is going to take a tragedy to get through to some of these paid legislators. I truly believe some only vote to toe the party line and because they are paid to do so. Now is not the time to scrutinize the bill and point out its deficiencies. The entire bill is trash. There's no reasoning with these 'tards and it's gonna take some serious resistance to get to where we need to be.

    You can go here: https://www.marylandshallissue.org/jmain/legislation-tracker/bill-tracker

And you can show up in Annapolis and testify. It is really great fun. Call and email your legislators. And call and email the committee members too -- as committee members, they represent all Marylanders.

See also www.patriotpicket.org. They are also on Facebook. No keyboard commandos in that group.

Anyone that needs help contacting legislators or testifying (written or oral) please PM me. Am happy to help.

Whatever you do, don't take the advice of the naysayers who posted after you. Lots of <redacted> here. You can choose to fight tyranny, or you can bend over for it. If you move, it will just follow you. Remember how pro-2A Virginia used to be?

See my sig line for how I feel about the matter.

Ok let me get this. The State who gives driver licenses, does even have a clue how many illegals live here, have obtained weapons and have been arrested for felonious actions, much less show for court date? And they dont even have a populated task force to even enforce this drill on a population of law abiding citizenry? Am I missing something here....oh yes and no cooperation by some jurisdictions with Federal Law Enforcement? Now were going retro to voluntary registration with a fee or better yet a tax on ownership. This is an unenforceable exercise in complete stupidity. If your business with regard to the State didnt exist when you purchased....then game over. Why because they don't even know what, where, when just like people who are here illegally. No?

Greetings Samlab. Keep up with the bills here, then come on down to Annapolis and give the legiscritters a piece of your mind: https://www.marylandshallissue.org/jmain/legislation-tracker/bill-tracker

I will continue to contribute; fight, and protest in person as often as my situation and body will allow.

I WILL NOT GIVE THE MGA BASTIDS AND THEIR OWNERS THE SATISFACTION OF QUITTING. I DO NOT QUIT!

Can I get an amen?! More folks like you need to show up and make their voices heard. You have certainly not been a sideline monkey. I enjoyed our time together sticking it to the antis in person.
