My, how we can take ANY thread and derail it in any number of directions. But I'm glad this one is going well. The 2 camps seem to have had their say and we are all one happy family once again!

Actually need to see if there is any interest with all the new Mt Airy and points west members we have now. Someone should know a good place in Mt Airy, Fredneck or Hagerstown area for a meet up. We’re more of a steak and ribs area than crabs and shrimp. Went over an hour to the Pig Roast last year and had a fine time. Guess none this year? That thread sort of died. Sorry to hijack the thread!

I’d be in for something this direction! I’m 30min or so NW of Frederick so some of the other mentioned meets would be a bit too much of a drive...

f we wait until after Labor Day, I can get a really good deal on fat Chesapeake Bay crabs for a MDS crab feast. I'm talking ~$100 bushels of #1 Jimmies.

Mmm, I can't wait to get stuffed full of jimmies. My wife can't either. I'll usually do all the work to get the jimmies ready, pulling the meat out for her, and then she'll just go to town on them.

Where I'm from the crab hammer gets you banned from the adult table.

This ^^^ no hammers allowed here!

I made the cut. I eat crabs with my EDC knife.

Crabs are like 1911's all the tools you need for disassembly are built in to the design. A leg can help dig in places, a backfin can scrape, and the top shell holds all the picked-through shell pieces. When I'm done I've got a neat row of upside down shells with all the trash pieces piled on each. You've also got to be sure to hand the mrs the big backfin chunk with the leg still attached so it's like a meat popsicle. Perfect for dipping in some apple cider vinegar and old bay.

Glad this thread has morphed in to something so positive. This brotherly talk is why I stick around this place. Fabs, glad to see you here being amongst everyone in a positive way. I really mean that. We all appreciate a robust debate but sometimes it's nice to just talk.

I could, but will save that for another time.:D

I'm not a fan of Old Bay either. JO Seasoning FTW and the best tasting steamed crabs possible. Use it on king and snow crab legs too.

You know, once upon a time, I could buy a dozen crabs and enjoy them. Then, a couple years ago I bought a dozen, my oldest asked for a little, my second oldest asked for a little, and then they wanted me to teach them how to pick them. I might have gotten 6 out of the 12 that day. Daddy learned though. Next time around, I got 2 dozen.
