Don’t forget that although this is a first amendment issue, the 2nd is our original point. I suggest a sign like “2nd Amendment-Nullified
    1st Amendment - TBD”

Somehow work the 2A into the message.
Wish I could join you, but I escaped the PRMD.

I’m sorry, but you have to re-read the entire thread to understand this is a 1A gathering only. You and I understand it all stems from our 2A burdensome struggle, but 1st Amendment is what the invitation is about and alienating first amendment guests is impolite in the least and downright rude in the long run.

    Please understand this gatherings mission.

I have grown weary over the years of not just hearing a continuous stream of non-apology apologies from wrongdoers, but also grown frustrated by the general failure of people on the receiving end to just accept them. Call them out for their shortcomings. Do not become complacent and allow the bar to be continually lowered. Push, push, push until true accountability is achieved.

    After THREE contacts:
    Sen. Doug Peters: No Response
    Del. Geraldine Valentino-Smith: No Response

Just an update, as of this morning, on who responded to my email regarding this:

Edward R. Reilly - no response
Boyd K Rutherford - Your email was received
Michael E. Malone - no response
    Tony McConkey - no response

Sid Saab - Personal response email containing Chief Wilson's email. Thumbs up to Mr. Saab for the response. It's not his fault Wilson's letter is disingenuous.

I will email these reps again Monday requesting who gave the "arrest" order.

    See you Monday, Fred

IIRC earlier in this thread Senator Reilly told someone he would be on the sidewalk Monday night, by phone conversation. He's a good guy, been to our farm several times, nice to walk through the woods with a 2A Senator.

For folks concerned about having video of the upcoming Monday's activities, here's a field-expedient method of mounting a camera to a hyu-mohn meatbag. This is the dash cam out of my car, and I picked up a 5000mAh "power pack" battery from Microcenter in Rockville to provide electricity. Best Buy carries them, too. The tie-down straps were pinched from the trunk of my car, and are readily available at any sporting goods store in the camping supplies section. Or you can use string or shoelaces and just make loops to go over your arms.

A little duct-tape reinforcement is probably warranted to keep things from falling apart too easily. Adapting for a cell phone by making a "pocket" should be easy to do, too.

Something a little more robust. The big hole in the center keeps it from accidentally pressing the buttons on the camera.

I heard back from both Delegates Malone and Saab.

    Malone wrote:

Thank you for your email. After I learned of the arrests of Kevin and Jeff, I spoke to House Minority Leader Nic Kipke regarding the situation . I am now happy to learn that the charges have been dropped. I hope to see my 2A friends Monday.

    God Bless, Michael

After pressure, charges were dropped today on the arrests from Monday night, though they never should have happened.

On Tuesday, I had contacted both the Capitol Police and the State Police asking for an official inquiry into the event. Below is the statement I rec’d from Chief Wilson of the Capitol Police whose officers made the arrests:

    Delegate Saab,

The Maryland Capitol Police are responsible for providing a safe working environment for state employees and visitors that frequent state properties, and to secure buildings that are located on state property.

The Maryland Capitol Police responded to a demonstration occurring without a permit, within the public right away of the sidewalk, at the intersection of Bladen Street and College Avenue. Out of a concern for public safety, and in an abundance of caution due to two pedestrians being being stuck by vehicles in the last year, and nearly a half dozen reported pedestrians complaints concerning vehicle failing to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk, the demonstrating group was asked to relocate to Lawyers Mall

After three (3) request to move their location to allow for pedestrians to freely use the sidewalk, crosswalks and to reduce conditions for distracted vehicle operators approaching the intersection, two individuals declined and were subsequently arrested for Criminal Law Article 10-201 Disorderly Conduct, Disturbance or the Public Peace, Nuisances.

Please call or email if you have any further questions. Our public information officer is Nick Cavey and he can also be reached in his Baltimore office at 410-767-4958.

But you have to wonder why there hasn’t been a problem before. I know the two men arrested and hold them in high regard, and there has not been a problem with members being there over the years.

Thank you for contacting me about this –
    Sincerely,

    Delegate Sid Saab

I haven't heard back yet from Reilly or McConkey.

After reading Wilson's email, Lt. Col. Frank Slade comes to mind:

"This is such a crock of sh$t."

Vincent Gambini is not far behind.

I received a wonderful response to my communications with Deb Rey.
I have supported her political career for this very reason.

Dave - I hope you have heard by now that all charges have been dropped. The
brothers do have a lawyer and may end up taking action against the state -
we have to wait to see what happens. This Monday the Republicans will hold
a press conference about this issue and will stand with the Patriot Picket
supporting their right for freedom of speech. I hope you can make it to
Lawyer's Mall on Monday to stand with us.

PP - let me know if you guys want to pick this stuff up today or tomorrow (or I can drop it off). Otherwise, I will bring it Monday.

    Lot of '13ing going around....:D

Let's hope it turns into something positive, like more folks who can lobby and vote 2A issues.

And speaking of all of the FNGs (friendly new guys), I hope every one of you (and all of our 2A-curious guests) can get to Mission Barbecue in Annapolis on Monday by 5:30 or 6 and meet some of the folks on this board, then get on over to the public sidewalk adjacent to Lawyer's Mall by 7 pm and join them to support not just the 2A, but first and foremost for Monday, the 1A.

Anyone living near eastern Frederick county is welcome to carpool with me for the ride over. I'm heading down early though, like right after lunch, and will likely stay late. Just send me a PM.

MD's law around two party consent could be in play, but it's at a public event, so probably not. Considering that the MCP was willing to infringe on 1A, they would welcome an opportunity to push this too. Better to keep the cameras in the open. When they see the camera, they are consenting ...

Anthony Graber put that issue to bed. Feel free to record and publish said video at will.
