Peaceful protest. The bedrock of democracy. Apparently not in MD.

Infringement in one right...not so good. Indeed unacceptable.

    Infringement on multiple rights...abject tyranny.

Think about the mentality of those who would infringe on basic human rights.

Now think about infringement wherein "they" decide to: infringe based on some "new" set of rules/circumstances AND "they" decide to infringe against 2A folks exercising their 1A rights in support of their 2A rights.

Now ask yourself, did they do this to BLM? Arguably, BLM behaved outside several laws during their demonstrations. Wonder why "they" think it's ok to infringe on our 1A rights in a different way than "they" infringe on other groups 1A rights?

As to "their" response after the fact, they double down on stupid and illegal by trumping even more charges.

Is there a limit to "their" willingness to trample civil rights? Are a group of mostly middle aged white taxpaying citizens less protected legally? Constitutionally?? Is this not prima facie evidence of governmental tyranny? Hell, this borders on reverse racism if you ask me.

Looks like there's at least three sets of rules...rules for the politically/financially connected, rules for the liberal social unrest protesters and rules for tax paying, law abiding citizens.

Why do we have rules? Why do we have laws? Why don't we apply laws consistently? Who gets to decide who is afforded protection for this basic human/democratic right and who is not?

The first amendment is as clear as the rest of them. Indeed it has been tested in our legal system perhaps more than any other. Why does the People's Republic of Maryland think they have the egregious prerogative to stifle people's voices? That's not governance, that's tyranny...plain and simple.

Because they know we won't riot in the streets, it's that simple.

Does some one have the statement from Willson saying there were not any complaints that night?

    Dear Chief Wilson,

BS. I was there. You were not. Jeff and Kevin were absolutely not blocking the sidewalk, nor was there usually any pedestrians to obstruct even if they wanted to. The pedestrian accidents that you cite were last year, so why were we allowed to be on the public sidewalk for half a dozen or so Monday nights already this year? After reading your response above, I absolutely and completely retract the compliment that I paid to you elsewhere in this forum. See you next Monday night.

In the video the officer walks past the sign easily before returning and moving the sign. The sign clearly did not impede his using the sidewalk.

Just received from the office of Ted Sophocleus...

I'll not comment other than to say that the responder must have worked hard not to hear about it:

Marian Meyers here – legislative assistant to Delegate Sophocleus

Unfortunately, Delegate Sophocleus is in the hospital. He has had neck surgery. According to the medical doctors, he will not return to the Maryland House of Delegates for approximately 4 weeks.

He was rushed Monday 2/5/18 to Shock Trauma with a broken neck. He was not in Session Monday Night.

This is the first I have read/heard of this incident.

No, but push us too far and patriots have been known to cross a frozen river on Christmas Eve to kill you in your sleep....so I’ve heard.

Ask the Chief if he will lead a MASSIVE Pro-2A march if we get a 'permit' ?

A point that I have made to everyone that I have sent that video to, and asked to join us next Monday night.

And let's not forget Ramirez's coffee event next Saturday. If you believe that, as the officer said, "things have changed", they have changed because of the Patriot Picket's visit to Ramirez last Saturday. Please consider stopping by for some of his free coffee, and politely informing him how you'll work against his being elected to another office. Or anything else that is on your mind. Remember to act, as Jeff and Kevin always have, in a polite and respectful manner, there if you go, and on the public sidewalk near lawyers mall next monday night.

Odd that they did not hear of this, especially since it was brought up and discussed on the Senate floor and Mike Miller speaking about it.

Response from Michael Malone (Dist 33)

    Mr. XXX,

Yes, I agree that this was wrong and it is highly concerning that your first amendment rights are being trampled on. I will be looking into this more along with other colleagues.
    Sincerely,
    Michael

    Finally caught up.

I also am retracting my prior good thoughts on the Chief. These shenanigans far outweigh the good will he once showed us.

Also, a reminder to all (though I forget offhand where I heard it)... The answer to infringed speech is MORE speech.
