Newbie question: Just bought first gun, SA XD 9mm. In addition to a basic cleaning kit, what gun oil is recommended by this experienced group? What other basic supplies are recommended?
Thanks,
Dave

Here you go. It doesn't matter what you use. This study debunks the need for "gun specific oil."
forgot the gun light -- most recent purchase. If a flashlight says "gun" in the name, they get to charge you 10x more.
And over cleaning is the cause of more gun damage that any amount of shooting.
I check over a new gun, lube it, shoot it. And shoot it, and shoot it, etc.
They occasionally clean it. Even shooting a LOT, maybe once a year. DEFINITELY not every range trip.
Good to know, thanks. I probably would have spent an hour on the range and 4 hours cleaning each time.

you mean to tell me by your post that you also do not change your oil in your car every time you drive to the store????!!! The horror

You'll develop your own routine and preferred stuff over time. Don't get bullied or buy into advertising hype.
