Nice, they make some great looking firearms

Picked this up today: Model 586 no-dash. It's an early one with the S&W logo on the right side. Near mint condition.
Gorgeous pic. Two 20th century classics.
I'll admit I've been obsessed with older Colts and pre-lock S&Ws lately. Saw a short frame 1962 Model Colt .38 Police Positive today, a lot like Bossman's, that was extremely tempting but a bit pricy. Almost mint condition, though. Still thinking about that one.
The one I'm looking at is easily 99% and if it was ever fired, it sure wasn't fired all that much. I like the way it feels in the hand. Good trigger and nice tight cylinder lock-up when you pull the hammer back for SA mode. Bore is like a mirror. I may go for it if the seller will come off his asking-price a little.
What loads would you recommend? Obviously, not +P but anything standard velocity gtg?
Sent the seller an e-mail right before I read this post to let him know I'd be in Monday to pay for it. I'm not going to beat him up on price (too much) considering its condition, though.
I don't know much about the gun, other than it's out of a retired cop's personal collection, the serial # dates it to a 1962 build date and there's no box or paperwork with it. I've purchased other guns from this (local) seller so I'm not worried about it not being what he says it is. It's too nice to pass-up. I'll post-up a pic Monday.
This isn't it but it's almost identical condition-wise. No wear at the muzzle. Very light, minor scratches in the surface and on the grips from handling. The turn ring on the cylinder is barely visible.
I shot one of MPDC4511's old Colt Police revolvers at Dottrio and I've wanted one ever since.

I went from CZ fixation to revolver fixation that day.

Unfortunately, couldn't make a deal with the seller today but, as you can see, it's a pretty nice one. Seller wouldn't come down $1 off his asking-price. Plus, I noticed something that I hadn't noticed during my initial examination: when the hammer is pulled all the way back for an SA shot, the cylinder was not completely locking into place. I had to give it a very slight turn to lock it in completely...so, I passed.
That sucks. Beautiful old Colt. Wonder why the lock up was off?
Well I had some of my handguns out so I'll post what I've got. Smith & Wesson 629 classic 44 mag. Ruger Super Redhawk 44 mag. And my Ruger Vaquero in 45 colt.
