It was only mounted there for the pic, I had to pick up a keymod rail to mount it to the guard.

OP, don't sweat mounting your bipod on your barrel. Folks have been doing it since the invention of barrels and bipods. Is it THE BEST set-up, no, but Harris makes barrel mounts and sells them for a reason. Cuzz they work. I have a Harris 9-13 inch on a .223 barrel and a Harris 6-9 inch BR mounted on a 300 BLK barrel. Both rifles deliver acceptable accuracy with hand loads. Though your bipod does seem excessively tall. Consider a 6-9 for your application. Much less wiggle means much more steady. And buy a Harris. Not one of the rickety afterthought abortions that other companies are cranking out at half the price. All that said, have fun with your new build.

I thought about getting one of those - awesome! What length barrel is that? 16? 14.5?

    16" 1-9 twist HBAR

It also came with a 20 round magazine which is also stamped with the "RESTRICTED" roll mark.

Very happy with the whole transaction - Gary met me on early on a Sunday morning, I got to chose between two rifles - couldn't have been smoother. A buddy that rode along with me was able to pick up some Magpul .308 mags while we were there as well.

Gander Mountain was only about 40 minutes from Gary's place and we went there and loaded up on standard capacity Glock mags while in Pennsylvania.

    Ruger SR-556.

Family friend's husband passed away and left his wife a whole pile of guns. Was a competitive shooter. She offered my grandfather and I a look at the list to see if we were interested in anything. Feel pretty special being allowed to have this chance, and picked out this as well as a Ruger Mk III Competition, and Stevens 335 18.5" double barrel.
