Sorry for the flagrant multiposting here. My fingers are moving faster than my brain(28 hrs of driving in 2 days will wire most folks). It's just occurred to me that we spent the first part of this thread trying to talk poor old g8tr out of building a 300blk and the second part of this thread talking "Indy" into building a 300blk. I love irony!:lol2:

I've shot em. My boss shleps one around when we go hunt coyotes in the mountains. I'm always up to shoot, appreciate the offer DA.

I just noticed we both used the verb "shlep". I thought I was the only sap who still uses that!

    Sorry for the derail fellas.

How about a 25-45 sharps? You can use the same upper parts just like the 300 Blackout. It will fire fine without a can. You can shoot quite a few rounds supersonic with the 300 Blackout and a 16 inch barrel that will work fine also, but distance suffers.

I suppose the functionally significant ones like barrel mfr, model, length, gas system, BCG, buffer and action spring specs.

Mine is a AAC barrel that I picked up on Black Friday 2014.

You won't find it in stock, so there is an alternative.

For a 16" 300BLK, you will want the gas system to be pistol length, so it will cycle supers and subs. I am running a 16" barrel for Bambi Slaying.

You can use any BCG, on it that you want, that is labelled 223/556, but make sure it is a M16/full auto BCG. I have a Wilson Combat BCG in my build.

I have a standard buffer spring and a Spike's Tactical T1 buffer, covering the back end of things.

If you put a magnified optic on the upper, I'd highly recommend a ambidextrous charging handle.

I also free floated the barrel on mine and am getting sub-moa with Hornady Custom 300BLK 110gr V-Max for hunting.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if a shorter barrel on the order of 12.5" develops sufficient velocity for hunting using the 110 grain loads?

    Spikes Upper
    Spikes Lower
Spikes LPK (I ground the nub off the grip)
DPMS A1 stock, buffer tube, spring and buffer
Wilson Combat Match Grade 300BLK 16" barrel
    Troy Alpha rail
    Bushnell TRS-25 red-dot

Suppressor and brake are SDTactical parts

    Ammo is 110gn Barnes VOR-TX

Last season I got one doe because my work schedule didn't really allow me to hunt much. She jumped about 15 feet in the air, took off running, moved her legs once, and just skidded to a stop 20 feet away from where she caught the bullet. Totally dead.
