I hope to do this one day, but I don't think my .223 is going to cut it out to 1200. We'll have to wait until I buy something with longer legs.

Ed can tell you what your limitation would realistically be.

A 24" bolt .223, with the right load - will still get you out there a good bit. Provided the wind isn't too bad.

Problem #2. My best option for this class has a bolt, but its part of a BCG. My AR has a 22.5" heavy barrel, decent optics, and quality parts, and I'm sure I could make it work for a long range class, just not quite as long range as is being discussed here. I've been meaning to get a respectable bolt gun, I just haven't done it yet. One of these days...

All classes, up to 3, will be the same price.

    1) The High Power guys shot ARs in .223 out to 600 yards all the time. And shooting an AR near the limits of a .223 bullet will teach you as much as shooting a .338 Lapua out to its limits. Like shooting 22 rimfire to 200 yards.

    2) You have some 3 months to get a bolt gun and come play. You can buy a factory Savage or Remington, with heavy barrel, mount up a reasonable scope (Vortex is my choice), buy some Federal Gold Medal Match ammo, and be there and shoot to 1000 yards. Heck, you can bring the rifle, scope, mount, and rings, and we can put it together there. :)

More than enough time, I was thinking about building a semi-auto AR10 to join my bolt gun on the trip, never know........

I am interested in the third class, and I could go for weekdays, if they're the right weekdays.

My job involves a lot of travel, and it's not always predictable, but if we can find a time that looks good I'm prepared to build a wall around it, and would be amenable to forfeiting the deposit if late breaking work changes require it.

I've been wanting to take a class like this from Ed for years.

I've got a Winchester 70 in 30-06 that should work.

If my father brings his stock M70 in .270 he should be ok? Shoots a touch under an inch at 100. Has a 20 MOA base so he should be able to get out to 1000 or so.

    That should do it.

    Is he signed up?

Checked at work, I am in for the 2nd class 4/30-5/1. Let us know if/when we should send Ed a deposit.
