Take it easy on me... this is my first lower.

I picked up 2 anodized lowers from TM for < $40 each. I have access to some nice equipment which you will see below. I am however, not experienced with this equipment and I managed to drill right through the trigger pocket. :banghead:

I was originally thinking of just chucking it, but someone working with me suggested JB Welding the area and re-drilling the trigger. My question is if I use JB Weld- should I use the original formula, or is there an advantage to using the Steel putty? I am worried about shrinking in either of the two. My plan is to soak/clean in acetone... rough up the area as much as I can with some sort of file or steel brush, and JB welding the shit out of it.

    Any suggestions? [Pics below]

JB Weld is the greatest thing since peanut butter and jelly in the same jar and no firearms tinkerer should be without it.

But it does have it's limitations.

You have successfully found one of those limitations.

That lower is a prime candidate for the round file. And I don't mean rat or jewelers.

PS: Now go buy a 100% lower and be done with it. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.00

I have milled a few. That area is the one I was most worried about. I put a finished lower in the jig to set depth

Pass go and do not pay $200? I appreciate your input, but the reason for me choosing 80%'s have little to do with cost savings or convenience.

I believe that (although proving to be a pain in the ass now) it is a good way to understand your rifle. I will have working knowledge of the parts, assembly, and maintenance required.

Also... Maryland is bad enough. I am not registering a rifle in that state. You are going to have to find it before you have to take it from me. I'm not going to make it any easier for them...

So you're going to mill an 80 percent lower into a fully functional firearm in another state and bring it into the state of Maryland without a serial number?

Have fun with that. Legal or not, I would never want to be caught with any firearm that didn't have a serial number on it. Especially a firearm that is not welcome here.

Nor would I openly talk about it on a public forum.

Don't forget to set those stops.

It is legal, and I will be happy to explain that to any LE that is unaware. History has shown that without proper use and defense of a law, your right will turn to plight. It is for this reason that MD has become such a cluster regarding 2A. But I digress.... follow the herd if you want.

    Time to stop the bleeding.:sad20:

Yeah.... I feel dumb but I'm not a machinist. :(

Even though I have another, there is someone in Bmore that sells raw 80%'s for $45. I really hoped to make a 5.56 and a 300 AAC, so I'll see how it plays out.

I'm wondering though.... do I have to cut this in half to scrap it? Its already pretty FUBAR. :lol2:
