I'm a confirmed in with a plus 1 semi newbie. My plan was for him to use my gun, but it's a pink youth 20 gauge 870 haha soooo if there's an extra floating around, I'm pretty sure he would greatly appreciate not having to use mine haha :)

All 4 of you guys should shoot on the same squad as often as you can.

If they had more (any) experience I'd love that, but for right now, unless myself or my buddy Cris is standing right on station with them, they won't be on the line. My son (18) has a little experience, but not that much that I'd be ready to cut him loose on his own.

Like I said, they know they might only get one round in, I'm okay with that, I don't want the fact that I am bringing a busload get in the way of the original intentions that this is a MDS day. I'm hoping my daughter (23) can make it through a full round. I am very excited about tomorrow, mainly because I finally get to meet some MDS'ers.

Can't thank Lou enough for putting this together.

Let them shoot. I'm sure there will be more than enough experienced shooters to pair one with each of the noobies and even lend them a gun. It's what MDS is all about.....

    This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am pretty sure that there will be enough "seasoned" members there to lend each of your newbs a hand while you guys all shoot together.

As long as they know how to handle a firearm, there really shouldn't be much of an issue. Open action when not shooting. Load the gun right before their turn. Keep the muzzle pointed down range once loaded. Mount the gun. Aim at the house. Call "Pull". Track the bird and as soon as it is covered up by the barrel pull the trigger while keeping the gun moving. we can talk about stance, keeping one's head on the stock until well after the "bang", etc. some other day.

Now, if this is something you want to teach your kids on their own, then have at it. When I was 16 I was cut loose to hunt on my own since I was able to drive out to the farms on my own. I simply told my dad I was going to go hunting after school and he said alright. However, I had been hunting since I was 6 years old. Circumstances are different for everybody.

End of the day, just enjoy the day.

Looks like it will be a pretty decent January day. In the low 40's, sunny and breezy.

THIS ^^^ and it's a BIG GO for trap chootin, on New Years Day at CCGC. See y'all there at 11:00 AM. We'll have a short (5 minutes or so) safety, rules, and guideline briefing before we start chootin'.

I have no problem using a pink gun with pink shells.:D However the "yout" model is a bit small fo' me.

How old is your "+1 semi newbie"???

This is where it stands as of now. I gotta' feeling at least one or two more will be showin' up, SNI b'cuz there'll be a Ford Explorer (that she can't get her feet to touch the floor in) goin' right by her house, and also Fabs as he'll most likely find a way to get outta'da' house by either hook or crook for a few hours as he's got an itch that REALLY NEEDS to be scratched; you know Fabs, they have doctors that can cure that for you. OH, there'll be a doctor wiff da'mazing hair at the range wiff'us. There you go Fabs, here's your excuse.:D

For those of you sans shotgun, I will be bringing my 870 to loan. Would you prefer an IC or Modified choke? I'll be shooting my Beretta with a Modified.

To all involved with New Years Day CCGC trap chootin' event:

Y'all may wanna' bring cameras wiff ya' to d'shoot as there'll be many an opportunity for some really great pics to post here in this thread of really good times to be had by all in attendance.:D If anybody has any objections to having their pic taken an' posted here (most likely there won't be, but who know's), please sound off now.

Also, if you have a portable foldable lightweight lawn chair, you may wanna' bring it wiff ya' as the provided seating there is minimal.

I'd say jus' stick in the modified an' let it go at that as most noobs will have a tendency to hold out longer waitin' for that perfect shot (to be still).:innocent0

Yeah, voice of prior experience speakin' here:lol2: That's ok, I watch SNI doin' the same thing when she shoots trap so I know exactly what it's like to get over that hump.

Augie, do you know if we may have two traps instead of one for t'morrow??? By the anticipated turnout, we could keep two traps almost continually runnin with full squads.

As my brother told Mr. H last Friday, he waits until just before the target is about to hit the ground before he pulls the trigger. 25 out of 25 all the time.

Lou, Dave will be your best bet as far as 2 traps, the New Years Day Handicap shoot will require at least 5 traps, maybe more. I might try calling him around 8 or 9am to see if you can get a second trap.

    Thanks:thumbsup:

If he's not able to do so, we'll manage, but runnin' two will be alot easier and alot more revenue for CCGC.

Getting ready for a fun day. No hangover (but close), coffee is good, about to wake the family up with the smell of sausage & bacon.

See you all in a while.
