Just got out of the rain locker and will be getting dressed and heading out between 9:30 and 10:00. Gonna try these newfangled Peltor thinigies today too.

I just returned home a bit ago from the CCGC New Years Day MDS'ers trap chootin' event. Before my departure this afternoon I spoke with Dave (club president) to thank him and his people for having us MDS'ers have our event there and especially for reserving two traps for us instead of just one as originally planned. He was more than pleased with our MDS group (about 30+ of us) there today and also thanked us for our support of CCGC. So remember CCGC for your trap chootin' plans if you're in the general area. They are open to the public MOST Sundays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (I'm there on Sundays about twice a month and usually with a coupla' other MDS members) and MOST Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. www.carrollgun.com

I'm sure that fun was had by all that attended today's MDS New Years Day Trap Shooting event at CCGC. There were several members with cameras takin' pics at today's event so look for them here as they'll prolly be posted up some time soon.:D

Sorry I had to tie up the first 10 minutes of the day with a rules and firearms safety orientation but as we all know, being firearms and shooting enthusiasts, we can always stand to hear about firearms safety from time to time. BTW, if any of you remember me mentioning in the safety orientation about a low charged or squib load, one of our members (Mdeng) shooting next to me today had one and I immediately knew what happened by the sound of his shot and apparently so did he. After clearing his firearm from the spent hull, I watched as he visually checked his bore for any obstructions. Good job Mdeng.

A great time was had by all. Given the antics I think we might want to take this to the Water Cooler............

Antics??? What antics??? There wasn't anything done or committed by any of us out of the ordinary today that we don't normally do when a bunch of us MDS'ers get together. We've done alot worse at a few of the many past MDS gatherings:lol2: and almost thrown outta' an establishment or two along the way.:lol2: We actually put on a GOOD representation today of how nice us MDS'ers can behave........... Remember "Do Bee a Do Bee and Don't Bee a Don't Bee"??? Miss Sally would've been proud of us today for being Do Bees.:D

Wow, Lou, thanks for setting this up. I had my best day EVER in my life of trap shooting.* I didn't blow my foot off, didn't shoot the trap house, and may have even hit one of the targets. Seriously, I think I was hitting about 3 out of 5 pretty consistently on my last round. And more thanks to Bolts Rock for the loan of the 870. Ima hafta git me wona dem, if I ever get any $$. After 100 shots of #7 1/2 12 gauge, there are a few small bruises on my shoulder but nothing all that serious. If I had tried 100 shots with one of my Mosins in one day they would still be mopping up the blood. *My first time trap shooting turned out pretty good!

This kind of event is a great one for people new to trap to get their feet wet. Only MDS folks shooting at the houses, and a relaxed environment. I hope we can do something similar again soon and get some more new shooters out. I had a fantastic time. Nice day, great people.

Had a great time!!!! Thanks to Lou for putting this event together. Had a blast shooting that shotgun for the first time in a very long time.... Definitely going to shoot more trap in the future... never had used the fancy machines before, always had someone hand tossing birds in the air....
great to put some faces to names as well!!
