But yet even with his budget, he couldn't get his convertible with the turbo motor. :innocent0

    :lol2:

A turbocharger is not high priority right now. Besides, I no longer drive beyond the speed limit... In DC.. Its effin 25MPH.

And I spent the Turbo money on NFA stuff.

The word Budget, as it refers to the Aimpoint PRO is a term used by Aimpoint and LaRue's Marketing folks. It is an optic designed for the LEO on a budget.. Thats how aimpoint markets it. It is not an asshat term.

A buddy of mine was showing me how easy it is to take out the FCG from his Tavor. Two pins.. Pop the bolt hold up and the FCG come out..... Easy..

Then the Bolt Hold also fell out...... Houston, we have a problem. LOL.

When this happens, Dont worry. There is also no info about this on the manual. I looked and nothing.

To reinstall, simply pull up on the bolt hold( plastic piece) then with your index or middle finger, slide the bolt hold into the coresponding notch on the frame. With a little practice, you will get good at reintalling it.

Can't justify spending nearly as much for an optic as the rifle costs. Digging the recommendations, thanks. Buis shot great, again today no problem with them, even after laying the wpnsystm down hard several times on bench and tossing in/out of vehicles.

M21 is my lead contender, but I'm in no hurry and still looking.

The sling did make a big difference, like the convertible 2- or 1- point sling options.

So far every mag I've tried has worked flawlessly.

Wouldn't mind picking up a lefty for myself, but life and finances prevent that at the moment.

It seems like im giving out honest information and people get pissed about the truth.

Its a new platform.. There are quirks to improve upon . American ingenuity and a free market will come up with solutions. as an engineer, i always say.. We cant fix the problems that we dont know about.

For the record,The Tavor... Is better than its counterparts.. Like the AUG, FS2000, CQZ97, FAMAS, Valmet71, N86S,L85, RFB, VHS, SKI SAR, SA Vector. ETC. But it is far from being perfect. Expensive also does not translate to perfection.

Given the choice of picking between the TAR or the AUG... I would pick the AUG..only because I am used to it and familiar with it strength and weakness. I am scrutinizing the Tavor... Because thats what I do. I fix things that are broke. one day, with enough knowledge and experience with this platform... I may consider it as my new HD gun. But it has not earned that title as of yet.

Pickin on the glockmobile..... Darn it. Lol... Thats what democrats do all the time.

The Tavor is also superior to the AUG in terms of being fired from the weakhand position(left). As long as you use full powered 5.56 rounds.. The Anemic 223 tends to throw brass rearwards, close to the face... A buddy of mine had a Russian steel case facial treatment last weekend.( Tula). A fix to this is to un a can with weak loaded ammo.. The increased blowback will result in cases ejecting forward, clearing the shooters face in weakhand position.

Whos getting pissed? Seems like we are having a serious discussion and relating our opinions about a new weapons system on the US market.

I agree.. I'm not going to spend more than 500 bucks on a rifle that averages 2- MOA and is designed for CQB/MOUT. I do not plan to use this gun past 200 yards anyways.

The more I take a deep dive on optics issue.. It seems that the M21 is the ideal optical sight for this rifle. Im sure that IWI has already tested this sight in all conditions. I may go this route as well.

All my mags also worked.. Except for the drums.

Reading more into the Tavor manual.

It recommends a 50 yard zero using the BUIS. That results in a 50/250 yard zero.

Just remember that it will shoot high at that setting. ( about 6.6" high at 100)

This is okay with combat shooting . Designed for COM or Center of mass hits. For range use. I would really suggest at 75 yard zero. That is a bit more accurate for target shooting. This also applies to red dots or reflex sights.

Interesting that IWI recommends zero at 50 for back up sights. Wouldn't you want both primary and backups to no just co witness, but also share the same zero, so there is never any confusion?

Like you, I can't imagine ever shooting this over 200m, so maybe a 50m zero is ideal for both.

    Great discussion!

P.s. I read that 556 ammo was returning to normal cost and will be plentiful again soon. I'm hoping it returns to $300 a case (delivered).

I remember this segment of Future Weapons from several years ago.

One thing that I notice is the optic used by the IDF is a MARS red dot. I checked out availability and pricing and they run $950.00+ and are restricted to LE and military sales. I found a few on the civilian market but spending that kind of money on what may turn out to be an AirSoft knock off isn't for me.

Well I can't pick fun on your choice of firearms or how you equip them, so the only thing left is the Glockmobile... :D

Normally the Democrat part would be a insult, but I am a DINO now.
