So I bought a used ruger mkii and after shooting it for 150 or so rounds my groups get way bigger. The lose of accuracy seems sudden, its not gradually happening. It goes from great to crap pretty fast. When I clean it and take it back out the same thing happens after I put enough rounds through it.

There appears to be lead accumulating near the middle of my 6.88" barrel. I can go in with a brush and push it out but its hard to do. When it does come out it comes out in flakes. Why would stuff get caught in the middle of the barrel? Is this at all normal?

It's usually caused by the owner throwing it across the room after spending 30 minutes trying to get the damned things back together.

Sounds like lead or copper fouling to me

I thought so too. I let it soak in clp (all I had) overnight and then cleaned it really well. I remeber the barrel looking clean after that. Ill try an actually copper remover and see what happens.

    Whats a squib?

A squib is an underpowered round. Sometimes they clear the barrel, sometimes they get stuck somewhere in the barrel.

If the previous owner had a squib and it got stuck in the barrel and they sent another round, it could've bulged the barrel some. Leaving a spot for excessive leading/fouling to build up in.

What type of ammo are you shooting? And how fast are you shooting?

Same question as previous post. What brand and type of ammo? Some Remington lead rounds will foul up a barrel really fast.

Im now using cci standard velocity and remington thunderbolts because its all ive been lucky enough to find for cheap. Im generally taking my time between shots but usually do one or two mag dumps when I shoot too. Im also shooting under full sun most days. Ive considered that maybe the barrel is just heating up too much but I think that would be a more minor and more gradual accuracy issue or something I notice with my other guns.

A squib seems possible. I sure hope thats not it because then I need a new upper :sad20:

Agree with previous posts, try running just the CCI's and see if it continues to open up on you.

So you threw it across the room after 30 minutes. It's called patience, mine went across the room in 31 minutes.:lol2:

I've been hearing alot about the Remmy TB and jus' about all of it has been negative. Thumbs up on quality with CCI.

I've had moments when the 10/22 almost followed. Designing a bolt and cocking handle mechanism that requires 3 hands ought to be grounds for deportation.

I hope you at least took the suppressor off first...
