Says you have to have an FFL or C&R to order. Is there a way around that if I have neither? Can I supply my FFL's certification and address? Doesn't appear that it's set up in a way that I could enter both our addresses.

In your case, you don't enter your address. You enter the name and address of your FFL. You pay for the rifle and it is shipped to your FFL, generally after your FFL sends a copy of their license to Widener's. Your FFL handles it as a transfer, with associated fees. Coordinate this with your FFL before you order. You might have to call in the order to Widener's if their online ordering system cannot handle it gracefully.

ARE YOU SAYING I SHOULD BUY TWO?

Three. You'll eventually trade one up or sell one. Then you'll have two left.

I somehow doubt they will look as nice as that pic but for that price Its worth rolling the dice.

Not necessarily, these are round receivers, probably mostly 1943s, and put into storage after being factory re-arsenaled by cheerful Communist workers who were being rehabilitated in the Ukraine. Most of them probably will look about that good. Unless they got some handling marks in shipping or being pulled from the crate, they usually looked that good when they were put into the crate.

I ordered one on Sunday and received the original email stating that my order was confirmed but I have not had any communication with them since. Did you guys at least receive an email that the item has shipped? The first email states that you will be provided a tracking number once the item is shipped but I guess it could take up to 10 days to process??

No shipping confirmation or number yet. They moved fairly quick on my pistol order, so I wasn't complaining or anything, I know it says 10 days.

Was just coming in here to ask the same question. Ordered 2 on the 15th and nothing since then.

I ordered on the 15th and mine just arrived. Pics when I clean it up a bit

First off, the bolt assembly is packed separately, so dont flip out and wonder "WTF where is the bolt!!, no wonder it was $100" like I did. Ive not had one shipped like that.

From what i can tell through the cosmo,
    its a 1943 Ishevsk,

Serial on receiver looks like т и 17XX but the russian letters are skewed a bit, a bit far away from the 4 digit number, especially the T. Its hard to tell, they might be proof marks or something but do look like "ти"

Matching Serial 17XX stamped on the trigger guard and bolt BUT no Russian letters so maybe those are proof marks or something else.

No number stamped on the stock.

The Soviet Crest, Year and Ishevsk armory stampings are somewhat light but clearly there.

The stock, with the exception of about 3 or 4 unfortunate hits, looks brand new. I mean Unused/unissued. Ive never seen one look that good. We'll see what the cosmo is hiding if anything.

Accessories in a bag along with bayonet. Full boat for your $$$
IMO, it was well worth it.

UPDATE: With the Serial#, I had SKS on the brain I guess. I looked at my other 1943 Ishevsk Mosin and it only has the Russian letters on the receiver not the other areas so this one presents itself like that one. Numbers matching with the same type ID markings. If Im wrong iM sure Yellowsled or Doc will correct me.

Ordered mine yesterday; my first MN. Is the ammo to use 7.62 x 54R ? I am looking forward to bustin off some rounds. Any suggestions what to use to remove the cosmo ?

    Yes, 7.62x54r

As far as cosmo goes, basic removal is to dissassemble metal from stock. Use paper towels to get the bulk off, use mineral spirits. Lots of vids online.

    Check out 7.62x54r.net

Decide if you are refinishing stock or just removing cosmo. Just removing cosmo from stock using mineral spirits is MUCH less work than a refinish. Even if you THINK you want to refinish (many people are against refinishing even the inexpesive Mosins as it removes the HISTORY of the rifle depending on the type of stock), your probably better off not doing it till you think about it and just remove cosmo from stock and then get it shooting. Maybe buy the $15 accurizing kit from smith-sights and get it shooting. Watch vids on how to disassemble bolt and check the firing pin protrusion using the tool they provide.

Read about cleaning corrosive ammo (I run patches of windex after range time before heading back to work).
