As someone who lost a family member to suicide, I feel for their loved ones and those at OT when it occurred. Public suicides like this inflict pain on a lot of innocent people.

As far as Honda's post, I think context would've helped. As posted it came across as someone seeking an opportunity to pick up a gun on the cheap. As far as his collection, I can understand the fascination with it, and am not offended by it. But discretion would go a long way towards reducing the odds of offending people.

You are totally entitled to your opinion and wants and needs.

My grandpa used to say your right to swing your fist ends at the other fella's nose.

I said you crossed my line. In addition to finding your public interest and determination to obtain something so recently and now very publicly used to end someone's life offensive, I also stipulate my opinion this forum is inappropriate for sharing your desire.

The issue of someone's unfortunate and perhaps tragic loss of life is yet unsettled. You allowed your immediate desire to own the implement involved is indeed your business and prerogative. I specifically and categorically object to your use of our forum for same. I continue to find that particular use selfish and UNECESSARY.

You want it. Go get it and good on you. Just don't use this forum to that end. A shade of discretion is appropriate. We do not need any inferences or assumptions that WE as a community share YOUR affinity or mistaken sense of what may be publicly and immediately appropriate in OUR forum. All IMO of course.
Well said...should be the final word on this (but somehow I doubt that it will be).

Honda can say what he wants, and whatever I dont care. He has to deal with any backlash, but what I would say is one word

    discretion

Say what you want but discretion is what gotcha here. For the record I don't care what anyone says, its a forum. People say a bunch more crap FTF then on a forum...

Thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in this sad incident.

That said, I'm surely going to Hades as a co-worker noted that there's now one less person to fight in the search for ammo, and I couldn't help but laugh.

Huh, wha? I don't want you. Go away. ;)

7 pages of speculation and Member bashing. Is there a news article that actually states what happened? Either way , as I see it, we are not representing ourselves well with the above posts.
I fully support your rights to say whatever you choose. I do however , believe that in a time like this , it is more appropriate to show some class and compassion for all those involved. Especially those who were on duty at OT .
Sorry in advance if this ruffles feathers, but think about how others whether inside our community or outside perceive what has been said.

Actually I'd like to get back to the subject at hand. Nothing on the news last night, nothing on line for news except that one para in the gazette. Sort of would like to know what happened since the media is silent, if the staff is ok and if the place is open or if this will impact their business.

I'm surprised that in all of these pages of posts there is still not a single bit of real info on what happened about 24 hours ago.

We're not a patient bunch, are we?

This thread...It's like waiting for the MSP to send your ND back to you. There is not much you can do beyond be annoying pestering for details, or waiting until they come.

I think we just don't like feeling helpless.

I have an opinion on this incident, but I'll keep it in my pants.

As I stated yesterday, the media seems to handle these suicides in a different manner than other incidents. There may be a brief initial article or tv news report, but that's it.

Specific info is usually hard to come by. Is there some unwritten journalistic rule to protect the victim's family?

These are still very, very sad events that impact far too many "innocents".

I don't know why it took me so long to think of this.....could the person have been a member here?

I thought about this, however most members here (at least active ones) tend to own at least one pistol. Usually the suicides at gun ranges do it there to gain access to a firearm. I do not think that it is likely they were a member here. My prayers go out to affected family and staff at OT.
