He said it can be used multiple times but he cannot guarantee the accuracy after one use

I plan to use my jig to create another jig... I have multiple AR jigs to begin with, so this should be fairly straight forward to create something functional as a more permanent jig with my Mill.

I did pre-order, but will participate in the GB when you go forward.

Hahaha I'm still waiting for him to accept Amex.
    You'll get yours before me!

The guy making them claims the polymer is top notch. Stainless inserts in areas that require threads. Beefed up at rear take down pin holes. Jig is one time use, a second use will not be guaranteed accurate. Jig will only fit their lower due to beefing up in places.
    Guaranteeing them for life.
here is the link to another forum where he gives details. A good read.

    from the other forum
Bolt Catch pin holes (will be threaded, threads will be steel)
Mag release button hole will be finished and normal shape
Rear take down pin hole will be present
Plymer80 logo will not be on final product
Front of magwell will be ribbed

    http://s1327.photobucket.com/user/ph...?sort=3&page=1

Likewise, the threads for the pistol grip will be steel for the same reasons. We have a VERY smart engineer working with us and you will see features like this that are not on ANY other polymer lower anywhere.
You can Cetakote these no problem. (cerakote?)

Our Jig is AWESOME and only fits our lower, and due to the unique design, namely the reinforced rib that runs the entire length, no other jig that we know of will fit.

The way our jig and the included custom bits work, you will not need a mill or CNC.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to drill too deep.
You should be able to get a near-perfect finish every single time.
Because we are offering a VERY robust lifetime warranty on a product that you will be finishing, our jigs have been designed to be one-time use. These jigs basically make very, very precise and that precision degrades after each use. (This is true even with metal jigs.)
The jig comes with all needed drill bits that are custom made for us. They are a hybrid end-mill and drill bit with a built in stopper for depth that has been designed to be used with our jig. So, yes you will need to buy a jig for every lower, but once you see how it works (pics to follow this post) You will see that its TOTALLY worth it. There is no jig on the market like this and with it and the bits, finishing this lower will be a snap!
And for those of you that already have tools, these are not like any bits you have... we designed them to be specifically used with our jig and that combo really makes finishing the lower pretty simple. Without them it would actually be a bit of a challenge even with a Mill.
The process will be very simple... the jig is labeled the same as the bits... all you really need is a hand drill.
    1. New Frontier, FMK and ATI all use the standard milspec design with no modifications for making it out of polymer.

    2. No other polymer lower, or aluminum for that matter, uses stainless steel threads for the pistol grip.

    3. The Polymer80 looks cooler

    4. The roll pin design for the bolt catch makes you more susceptible to breakage if you ever need to remove the bolt catch, the polymer80 is threaded in stainless steel and comes with the pins.

    5. No DROS fees or paper trail.

    6. Lifetime warranty and super awesome customer support.

    7. better Polymer material
once I can settle down a bit the AR10 will be full speed ahead.

Stress testing will be done when we have a final product... we dont have a chouce there. But prototype pics are on the website now:http://polymer80.com/product/prototype-images/

If I am understanding this correctly, and from looking at the site/thinking about the Jig they have. I am guessing that the trigger area is already empty and that you only have to remove a thin wall on top (hollow core) inside where the trigger group normally sits.

    If so, that's very slick.

The maker says there will be some material left that will have to be removed.
I just took the chance and placed an order.
I plan on using a good sharp wood chisel to clear out the remaining.

Yeah hard to make a square hole with a round bit with just a plunging cut.

I think I'll wait for a potential group buy. It's hard to jump on one without any actual proof from the manufacturer that they hold up...especially when you could get a regular forged 100% lower for that price not too long ago. I want to see one of these in a working gun that's firing somewhere first.

i read through this thread and don't get it. seams the only advantage is plastic is a little easier to cut away than aluminum. for the same reason, it is not as strong. what is the upside here? why wouldn't you just get a forged 80% lower for about the same price?

Thats my thoughts !! Have these been tested in any way? If it were made by AUG or FN or Beretta Than you know that the proper engineering and testing would have been accomplished and tested. I'm not knocking the idea or product per say . But even bush master has had theirs break . And there in the firearms industry for over 20 years. You can't go wrong with a Aluminum lower.
