the calls, emails and faxes are needed!!! The senate leadership is meeting to discuss all the procedural things (of which there are many apparently) they can do to make sure this doesnt go smoothly for the Governor and the elected majority. SB281 will be heard at 4:30 on the floor of the Senate. Please attend if possible. Victory or defeat is ours by the end of the day. To quote Shannon "The match isnt over till the last round is fired" so lets keep on the calls and be there to support the Senators at 4:30!!!

Here is something I was just told from Sen. Brochin's Office. Mike Miller may have already ruled that as a procedural matter, the cloture vote occurred when SB 281 was voted on prior (in February). Therefore, it appears he believes he does not need a cloture vote to end debate, so he may not allow a filibuster. The folks in the know may want to look into that.

I have called Degrange, Brochin and Mike Miller so far. Degrange will not back a filibuster (wants to say he voted against it for constituents but get party kudos for letting it pass), Brochin's office says he voted for filibuster before and he opposes the bill and Mike Miller's office said nothing. The poor girl that answered the phone for Miller sounds worn out. Called Middleton, but got a different senator, so will have to double back on that. Also emailed all AA County senators, Mike Miller and Mac Middleton.

Just sent a round of faxes. Phone calls coming shortly. May well be leaving work to come down for the vote too.

EDIT: Brochin's faxes aren't accepting my faxes. Not sure if they're busy or what.

EDIT2: Just got confirmation from HelloFax that both of his numbers are busy. This is a good sign.

I would find that highly unusual considering that the content of the bill is considerably different than it was the first time around.
