Oh, when you said "they" I was envisioning you referring to the MSP.

    my bad.. :o

    breakdown:

    apps is $75
background is $37.25 (unless you do the electronic finger printing)
    photos $?
notary free if you know where to go
postage stamp 44cents (maybe more since its 13 pages)
    gas to get finger printing.

did i miss anything else? :lol2:

FYI, when I submitted today I had my prints done at the MD CJIS site in Pikesville (6776 Reisterstown Rd, behind the Big Lots store). The price for the State and FBI check plus the Livescan prints was $57.75. However, when I was paying for the application submission the receptionist told me it was only $75. She said I paid for the background check w/ the prints. So keep that in mind if you're following the same route.

I just dropped my MD permit app into the mail. I am giddy with the thought I have a chance to get a MD permit (long shot though it is at this time). A few observations:drool:

    1. Ended up going to get my prints scanned electronically at one of the listed providers as the troopers wouldn't do my prints until Weds and I couldn't wait. What a scam, $67 for the prints! Just another hurdle you will have to climb after March 19th. Even more BS they claim the prints are only good for 72 business hours. If you don't get your app to the MSP by then the prints must evaporate.

    2. Reason listed for permit per the MSI email: "Self Defense and other lawful purposes". On the additional comments page I wrote: Per Wollard vs Sheridan decision on 3/5/2012 by Judge Legg in the US District Court for Maryland. "A citizen may not be required to offer a "good and substantial reason" why he should be permitted to exercise his rights. The rights existence is all the reason he needs"
See attached decision, page 20 Highlighted section.

I feel like am 9 again and just ordered my first whoopee cushion from the back of a comic book. I checked the mail box as soon as I got back from the Fedx office to see if my permit had arrived.:fingerscrossed:

    72 HOURS?

The info on the MSP website says that the prints are good for 30 days?

    Like usual I'm confused.

You gave them your application? Confused.

If you gave them your application, you had it already notarized and passport pictures?

    VERY good question.

Im not a lawyer but if such a point is ever reached the timeframe would likely include the entire time this policy of good and substantial has been in effect, the lawyers have more in it for them that way.

That said the lawyers so far have approached this in a very good manner with a solid case first to get the rulling and any subsequent appeals. This would only strengthen any damages case for past rights denied.

I was just going over the application and noticed that non-convicted individuals still need to declare and explain arrests and charges.

Can they use an arrest/charges as a disqualifier even though I was found not guilty in court?
It was 21 years ago and I was an innocent bystander.:innocent0

    Facebook notice: http://m.facebook.com/event.php?eid=368249376530097&full&refid=24
Baltimore County Campaign for Liberty is very pleased to welcome Larry Pratt, Executive Director for Gun Owners of America to our Wednesday night meeting. We will be discussing the recent Woollard Court Decision and what it means for Constitutional Carry in Maryland.

Additionally, in our Call to Action segment of the meeting, we will give you an opportunity to take action on this issue while it's hot, and reclaim your gun rights in Maryland. Help us to get the bill out of the Judiciary Committee, and up for a floor vote in the General Asylum. As usual, we will have plenty of pro-Second Amendment books and gear for sale.

They can't legally make you explain anything that was expunged, and it sounds like you could have an expungement based on what you stated.

Anybody with more legal background care to clarify? The instructions state to answer honestly so if you are hiding something that is found out as part of the investigation (i.e. through references) this could be grounds to deny possibly right?

Sorry if you do have a legal background as i do not but in this case it looks lime honesty will go further for the "have you ever" questions. Someone with more legal backing sources feel free to cite and enlight if possible.

I'm sort of wondering what the minimum is for denying people based on background checks myself. I never looked into it before because I never believed us average joes would be able to get permits. I have an arrest from 2004 for a misdemeanor(Racing on a public highway) that was dismissed after PTD. Although it has not stopped me from buying guns or a suppressor it has stopped me from getting into the Baltimore City police department. Expongement is really not an option for me because it requires me to go to El Paso and see a judge and hire a lawyer that wanted about $4000 so I wonder if I could even get a carry permit.
