Mossberg Silver Reserve and Stoeger stf 3000 are two of the best O/U low cost options.
I've been reading into both heavily the past week and just picked up the stf 3000 last night. Shot both and both are nice but the stf fit me better.
You'll read about negatives on both but you will find that everywhere. You;ll find as many people raving about them as you will that want to throw them in a wood chipper.
Can't expect it to be like a 2-3k gun but they are solid no frills options for those that want to get our feet wet.
I figured I'd spend just as much in rentals as the cost of the gun before I would be ready to upgrade to a serious life long gun.
Dicks has them on sale with a mail in rebate currently.
Now just need to find a solid place to shoot near Arnold/Annapolis =]
