Starting to consider a nice bolt action to add to the collection. I'm sentimentally partial to Marlin, but any other ideas out there? I've come to love stainless and don't mind synthetic stocks too much although a nice wooden stock does catch my eye...
Was considering .17 HMR but ammo cost for that can get expensive as well... and the HMR just seems too easy, not enough challenge--- am I wrong?

What do you think about $300 bolt guns and calibers? Thanks-

If your interested in a 22mag I have a Marlin 883 Ive been thinking about letting go . Its blued , bolt action , tube fed and a wood stock . Ive only put 50 rounds through it .I bought it new at The Gun Shop before they moved many moons ago . I havnt touched it in years it could use a new home that will get some use out of it . I was thinking around $200 .

    Thought new CZ's were +$400....?

CZ 452 training is below $400. Same as 452 Lux, with Beech stock instead of Walnut.

You will love it !!!

Will look like this Lux, with Beechwood stock.

I'd say savage for your price range.
I've got two and another one on the way.

get one with a laminate stock and accutrigger should be around $350 blued.
all you'll need is a scope and it'll be a good enough .22lr

Seems like the last time I was in Atlantic Guns in Silver Spring their CZ452 Lux rifles were right around $350 (been a couple years ;) ).

If you can afford it, go with the CZ. The new CZ 455 can be had for a around 350ish if you do some price shopping. Or, if you can find a CZ 452 American snap it up. It's discontinued....

Spend the extra couple of bucks and get a 452 while you can. If you buy the American they are easier to bed because they only have two bolts in the action. The varmint and some others iirc have a third one that isn't on the action.

I guess I need schooling on the greatness of CZ rifles.
Please inform me on why they are so much better and perhaps, I'll sell my savage 22 and 17 and pick up CZs.

It's funny to see that men all have an inherent gene that distorts cost.:D I specifically asked for $300 or less and all but one post have steered me right to the $400 plus gun...:innocent0 Our wives just don't understand it......:sad20:
