OK, I'm thinking about getting one of those Maxpedition man-purses as an EDC. I know I could just order one off the interweb somewhere but I want to actually hold the various models in my hands before buying.

What stores in MD carry Maxpedition packs?

I haven't seen any places local that carry them. I would check out LA Police Gear. They normally have some sort of freebie or specials on Maxpedition items.

www.knifecenter.com has some in stock, and they are located in college park. If you know what you want to look at, and they have it in stock, give them a call and tell them you'd like to come by and check it out. They don't really have a retail store, but they'll pull stuff out of their warehouse for you, and you can buy it right there.

I bought Maxipad backpack from ebags. At the time they have a 110% price match so I googled the best price I could find than they matched the price. Not sure if they still have the 110% match thing. Dont do the man-purse thing. It just isnt right. Even if your name is Jack Bauer.

Atlantic in Rockville has a limited selection. Give em a call. Certainly not going to be your cheapest option.

Go to the Maxpedition website and user their "Find a Retailer". There is a big stock dealer in Newington, Va but their prices are too freaking high.

I have the type S Fatboy versipack. Got it at Opticsplanet.com, along with the universal holster. I bought it specifically to take with me to the Dominican/Haiti last month. It is a sturdy, built-like-a-brick-shithouse murse, but there are some things you should check out before buying it for EDC.

The shoulder strap is bulky, which is good if you have a lot of gear/crap stuffed in it, but bad if you are trying to be discreet.

The holster part of the bag will hide a g26 comfortably, but a g19-sized pistol will barely fit. Forget about a 1911-sized gun.

The bag screams "I got a gun". I would never use it in the US for concealed carry, because it is obvious to almost anyone what it's purpose is, unless you are at some vacation-type place where tourists are running around with fanny packs. The only place where I suspect I could get away with it around here would be Ocean City, but only if I had a tank top on and a cherry-red sunburn.

If you don't care about the bulk or the concealment issue, the Fatboy pack is really versatile. In the DR/Haiti, no one gave a second notice to my murse, as it was appropriate for a surgeon doing triage/doctor-type stuff. Away from the disaster in Santo Domingo and San Pedro de Macoris/Juan Dolio, I just looked like another tourist. It blended perfectly in that tropical situation. My Kramer Confidant also worked well down there, but it is much slower to draw from, fwiw.

I would definitely recommend the OP handle these Maxpedition bags before purchasing one, especially if looking for a murse like the fatboy.
