  • How do you like the SOG hawk? I've often considered one but never pulled the trigger. I have a few from United Cutlery and one from Estwing.

    NIckZac,
The SOG FastHawk is pretty handy and very well made. Edge retention is good, and the case is excellent. I also have a couple M48 Tomahawks, but don't regularly carry them. I lived in Florida for 26 years before I moved here, and the Fast Hawk was first carried as a possible glass-breaker in case of submersion, but it got used while camping a few times, and has remained a truck-bag item for utility and possible self-defense as our "May-Issue" state is really a "No-chance-in hell will we issue" State.

I would show someone I know in person but the internet I just post the list due to those reading I may not want to see. If we were to meet up one day or run into each other at the range I would gladly show you. There is not much room in the trunk in the car. Perhaps 4 grocery bags can fit. The Truck is getting a cap and a bedslide so Ill be reorganizing that stuff too. I make sure nothing is visible from the outside of the vehicle.

My trunk, that wouldn't be a problem if I took out the stroller, but my wife's jeep is hard enough to find room with a stroller and all the other gear for a little one.

Next hawk I get I will probably check it out. The UC ones I have are neat and cheap, but they really dont have much work capability.

    ...very long list...

Damn dude WTF do you drive?! A F450 with three medium-sized support vehicles with aerial support?! And do you keep your own staff to keep track of everything? It would take me about three weeks to compile just your list...

I drvie an F150 crew and another ford sedan. The supplies used to be mainly used by me but after the first few years my wife started using the supplies. She does now help me resupply and track the inventory.

Recently my truck was wrecked and I removed the supplies before letting the tow company take it away. After it was fixed I got lazy and didn't put everything back for a few weeks. Wife wasn't happy when she needed things that were always there fining they were still at home. LOL

Her family used to think it was odd too till I started saving the day with my supplies when we were on vacation or traveling together.

To be fair this stuuff isn't cheap and is labor intense to acquire and organize. I sold a few guns to build these kits. I would say there's about 1K worth of supplies for each vehicle.

Clandestine . You are a man after my own heart. My kids and friends are often surprised at what I pull out of my truck. I have always been a " I WOULD RATHER HAVE IT AND NOT NEED IT THAN NEED IT AND NOT HAVE IT " Person.
But I would guess most folks on this site are as well. I still ask myself if I would have what I need to get me and mine home.

We are definately on the same page. Being prepared is something most men don't do anymore. My grand-daddy taught me by example. :)

    No tool kit?

A little 96-piece socket/wrench set can be a lifesaver Chad, especially when you drive Ford's. ;)

*Ask me how I know this...

I may have omitted it by mistake. I have a 301 piece harbor freight kit in each vehicle. I added some items to each as they are mostly socket sets. I paid like 175 each for them and they have a lifetime warranty.

Before I got my ford sedan I only stocked the truck with stuff as my hyundai was just too small for all that jazz.

Due to space constraints (regular cab truck), I normally don't carry quite the amount that you do, but a handful of must have items.

    *Tow straps
    *Tool-kit
*Some specialty tools - serpentine belt tool, voltmeter, jump-box, etc.
*Spare fluids - oil, trans fluid, brake, steering, coolant, 5 gallon gas can.
    *First aid kit
*Toilet paper - has saved my ass a few times. :innocent0
*Gloves - rubber gloves, shooting gloves, and heavier gloves for the colder months.

Seeing your list just reminds me, need to work on building up a few kits.

My father showed me when I was a kid. He always kept a beer box with supplies to carry in his car during the winter just in case . Blanket, matches, rope ,road flair, crackers. small hatchet. Summer time a mason jar with water . He grew up through the depression.

I thought I was good. I have a msp buddy who says I always have something when needed, but my list is nothing to compare to clandestine's list. I would love to be able to have that kind of list, but I don't have space or the extra cash right now.

    My list:
Tool kit (hammer, drivers, wrench, vice grips, and hammer )
    Jumper cables
    Rope and bungees
    Wire hangers
    Water
    Binoculars
    Field jacket
    Gloves
    Hat
    Boots
    Flash light
    Lighters and matches
    Map
    GPS
Cellphone chargers (micro, iphone 4, iphone 5)
    S&W knife
    Pens and notepad
    Mini Bible
    Multi tool
    Blanket
    Emergency shovel
    Flares

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things.
