Howdy all and Happy Friday Morning!

Have an HW50S in .177 arriving today. I am going to keep this thread going with my use of the rifle. Pics, vids, musings, and mods.

    Thanks, all!

    ‘Spose I should add -

While waiting for the rifle to arrive, I picked up some necessary goodies to round out what I need / want off the bat.

    (1) Air Venturi .177 worm kit / extra patches.
    (2) H&N Barracuda Match
    (2) H&N 4.52 Field Target Trophy
    (1) Williams FP-AG-TK

Eventually I’ll probably add a Gehmann 510, basic style, iris to thread into that Williams.

Excited for a real “trainer” so to say. My Sharps takes advantage of a tang and globe sight set-up. This will be good practice for holding all three circles of the target in view. Obviously there is a world of difference in touching off a 45-2.10” out of a Sharps and a .177 from a springer. But target picture remains the same.

Shooting little groups is something that gives me joy, and the ability to safely do so at 25y out back is a plus.

First order of business, as should with any rifle air or powder, is a clean. Swab the barrel, and do it again. Confirm tightness of action screws and their orientation. Helps to have a plethora of tools both small and specific. Thanks trade work! You should keep a screw driver of each size requisite for your Weirhauch in its rifle bag. They can shoot loose. Don’t use loctite, just affirm tightness at the start of each session, and perhaps in the middle for a while as your rifle settles in the wood. The tightening during sessions should peter out with use.

Excited to feel this Rekord trigger. I am seriously spoiled on triggers. My powder burners have exquisite triggers (aside the strikers!).

From Krale? they have the best deals on Weihrauch.
I had an R9 in .20 and an R7 in .177. Best springers I ever had. If I ever got another it would be the 50 as I think it's the best compromise between the two.
Shoot a tin thru it and then take it apart and do a "Home Tune".

Congrats. I find myself taking the air rifles out way more often because of the ease of shooting. Putting rounds in one hole never gets old. Keep us posted.

Thanks y’all! So I originally ordered from Krale but that turned out to be a disaster…long story lol..in the end I paid for two and will receive one from Arizona Airguns. Water under the bridge, now!

Gonna run a full tin of barracuda match through prior to digging into the the trophy field match.

I’ll get acquainted and comfy with the rifle and make an intro video for it late December probably. I plan to keep up with it and document my progress.

    Howdy, all!

I had set my Williams to about right on Saturday. I had limited time to work with, but got some time behind the trigger. It’s helpful that the 25y range is out back and just needs set up!

Today though I got to see a little of what this puppy can do. Off the bat, that Rekord trigger is very nice. I didn’t touch it from the factory, we are happy with one another.

The rifle is coming along very nicely. Groups settled out after Saturday’s shoot. Screws have been backing out slightly, nothing crazy. I keep on them Pre-shooting, while shooting, and post-shooting.

I am still making my way through it’s very first tin. I am shooting Barracuda Match….let’s just say, it’s performing well already, at least in my hands.

Now you see one target there that looks like it must be missing some holes…

First shot I knew was high, as I kept shooting, I started checking the spotting scope on pellet four. I just didn’t see anymore white growing down range…heck that was today’s last group. Four consecutively in a hole at 25y during my first “real” session? I called it good for the day!

    Can’t wait to shoot more!

Talking with some Airgun enthusiasts…I keep getting stories of their half century old Weirhauch’s still putting ten in the same hole…here I thought I was doing with four!

Busy busy week, hope to get back on the rifle soon! What a joy.

I am a fairy active member on the Levergun-Scoundrels forum. I have a similar thread going there as well. I mentioned my activities of two Sundays ago getting in the way of my shooting this rifle much recently. Here’s the cliff notes version.

Have a forum friend in Maryland. While we’ve not actually met face to face, we have gotten very close. He had an injury involving a falling tree four years or so ago. His mobility is a little curtailed currently, and he is moving to my state of South Carolina. They’re only moving 2:20 north of me, and time is something I have to spare. Money? Nah, but time I have! At 31 and in good shape, I was just the one that could help them with their big stuff (furniture, tools, reloading supplies).

I met his wife for the first time and set foot in his house before him. They’re retired age, and honestly, most my friends are. So I thought nothing of it.

Well on the Levergun forum, a member told me I made his nice-list and GRACIOUSLY sent me these flavors to sample and see what my rifle likes!

People’s generosity towards others astound me! I have had only a smattering of conversation with my Santa, but gift me they did.

Aways nice to get a serving of humble pie. Thank you!

Here in the New Year, after more time on the trigger, I am going to do a couple videos on ammo testing / groups for prosperity sake. I am curious about it, I figure there is at least one other that is as well!

    Impressive groups!

Do they come drilled for the Williams sight or do you have to order a special version for that? Running the factory front sight with the Williams?

Thanks brother! The particular Williams I am using is an FP-AG-TK. That stands for Fool Proof - Air Gun - Target knobs. And the sight is just that! Fool proof! It’s an 11mm adjustable base so no need for the d&t! The HW50S has a front site that accepts inserts. Due to an astigmatism I shoot best with the skinny post insert. I am a big fan of peeps for target shooting

They are the same sights I used on my CZ452 when I shot the score for sniper at an Appleseed match when they first started the program. Great sights but my eyes need scopes now.

I have an RWS Diana 48 in .177 that I've had since I was 12 and a model 54 that I bought a few years ago because the .177 would zip through squirrels and they'd run away, the .22 knocks them down, but I still love the 48.
