It took less than 5 business days for VA to issue my non resident CCW. Makes me wonder why are other states so slow..

because the other states.. like MD.. want to infringe on your rights, because they seem to think lawful gun owners are the problem, and not all the criminals they support

Is there any reason to get a non-resident carry if you have a MD HGP?
I seem to recall that it gets you a little more slack regarding gun-free school zones?

I am a VA resident and 2 years ago it took me close to 45 days that they advertised. My wife got hers this year and it took 2 weeks.

Most certainly not intending to be argumentative but what is it that I wrote was incorrect? A holder of a MD resident carry permit must secure a VA non-resident to legally carry in VA right?

Edit: I was responding to this quip: "Is there any reason to get a non-resident carry if you have a MD HGP?"

No as of 2016 VA accepts all permits

And MD does not differentiate between resident and non resident permits

Virginia accepts any valid permit issued by any state.

    Virginia Reciprocity.
So sorry, asleep at the wheel. My BIL just completed the CCW class offered by MSAR and he asked me to help with filing for VA. I assumed he had to get one to carry in VA based on his request. I'll let him know to wait on MD and save his $100. Is DC the same?

Edit: Good lord folks are confused on this, myself included.

That $100 will get him a lot of coverage in other states.
