Hey all! Just got back from a trip to Austria and found these beauties in the Salzburg Fortress. They had weapons of all types and from different eras, but these are the most relevant here.

I've been there too! I spent half the summer in Salzburg a few years ago. Did you go to Reyna's Kababs? My favorite place to eat there.

If you think the rifles in the fortress were cool, you should check out the Austrian Imperial War Museum in Vienna. You can spend an entire day in there and still not see everything.

Austro-Hungarian weapons became one of my main collecting focuses after spending the summer there

I'm jealous. Salzburg and Linz are two of my favorite cities in Austria. If I won the lottery tomorrow, one of the first things I would buy is a vacation home in Upper Tyrolea.

I spent 3 or 4 days in Salzburg on my way to Mayrhofen for a ski trip and I ate Kebab every day I was there. I would grab it from the place right across from the train station. That is one of my favorite things to eat when I travel to Europe.

The Imperial War Museum is excellent. The only bad part was when I went there the room with the Franz Ferdinand deathmobile was closed.

Ah that sucks. It was open when I was there in 2012. That was probably my favorite section, the deathmobile and Frank Ferdinand's jacket with dried blood on it, along with his and the other Austrian Royal Family's engraved firearms. The section with the Ottoman Sultan's war tent captured during the siege of Vienna was awesome too.

Unfortunately we were in Salzburg for less than 24 hours, and not prepared for the elements. Weather was very cold, rainy and then snow. Definitely would go back, in the the summer! The next day we ended up driving in a white-out snow storm in the Alps on the the way to Neuschwanstein Castle (seen here).

I've been there. Impressive. The KHM armor collection is really worth seeing.
