My permit is up for renewal in June or July. What's my first step?

I'd say check your files from your first application for the Utah permit, otherwise just wait for them to send you the renewal.

Good question. All I could find was this...

Looks like you send only money and a new photo.

You can do the whole thing on line. I used a picture from my VA permit for the photo. Had the renewal in 9 days !! I did have to crop the photo to make it work. The UT site is so smart it tells you how much to crop. Every state should emulate UT.

note you cannot renew more than 90 days from expiration.

I thought that Utah doesn't send you the renewal. You have to remember yourself.

Nope-they'll notify you. I decided to renew on line 90 days prior. I had my new license in 9 days.

Must have changed then. When I took the class the instructor said I had to remember and I remember that on the website.

They reminded me. I did it online, made my own photo. Very easy.

Just received my renewal notice. I am sure this has been covered and I think I know the answer, but since MD does NOT recognize any other permits, there is no need for me to have a MD permit to renew, correct?

yes-no MD permit needed as MD doesn't recognize UT and you can do the entire renewal on line. mine took 9 days.
