It is the blued version, with a wood stock. The stock has been spray painted black. Would it be worth putting it in a tactical style stock? Or a little TLC to take off the spray paint? It wasn't sanded or anything, because it is still shiny under the spray paint. From the serial number, it was manufactured in 1981. What is this thing worth? How much should I offer someone for it?

The newer 580 and 581s are selling for around $1k now in good shape, if that helps.

I'd guess in today's climate, the older pencil barrel models like what you are talking about would still be north of $500..

Regarding the stock, if it wasn't prepped or sanded before spray painting, some "goof off" and a scrubbing pad may do the trick. Or you could test lacquer thinner to see if it doesn't damage the original finish underneath. Otherwise, you could just scrape and sand it, then apply a nice oil rubbed poly.
